AHHHH! I am having so much hastle trying to get one of these sat navs from currys.

I ordered one to collect yesterday from the only store in the northwest i could find that had one, Kendal. The website said the shop closed at 5.30, the confirmation message said it closed at 5.30, when i phoned to confirm i could collect it i was told it closed at 5.30.

I drove the 60 miles from blackpool only to find it had closed at 5pm.

Today I have been on the phone for over 45mins telling thre same story to a dozen people at currys, who kept passing me on to someone else , but i'm still no closer to getting the thing.

They have this model at PC World, but its £20 more ,but to save a 120 mile round trip it might be worth it.
I used mine yesterday for its 1st proper test run to chesington world of adventure (about 90 miles) and I was very very impressed, and a big plus is that it works straight from the box.

  • If you're reading this and you have a SatNav that has an audio out jack or headphone socket, and you like the sat nav, can you list it please?

Motorbike SatNav is more expensive than car, but car satnav works just as well, as long as you can have headphones connected, or a bluetooth earpiece.

    So far I know of:

Tom Tom ONE v1 (no longer on sale)
    MEDION GOPAL PNA 210:http://www.currys.co.uk/martprdstore/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0466303519.1193750253@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccciaddmgkelgfgcflgceggdhhmdgmh.0&category_oid=-30731&sku=205208&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null

    Thanks!

The Becker 7934 is on offer at Viking Direct for £117.49. This has an audio output and also has maps of most of western Europe included on the SD Card.

If you hunt around there are also Voucher codes to be found that will give at least a further 20% off. You need to put any code you find in on the second last check out page and they will knock it off when they process the order.

Becker are German and make a lot of OEM for people like Range Rover.
  • We went on line at comet and got £20 off just for ordering online and picked it up an hour later! We got a TomTom One XL which has a 4" screen it warns you about the speed camera's and shows the correct speed you should be doing! We paid £179 but if we'd bought it in store it would have cost £199!! Halford's were doing it at that price too! I just wished We'd got one earlier instead of trying to rely on maps!

Some business post codes refer to the post office sorting depot where their mail is delivered to and not the physical address of the property where they operate. See if the location is the sorting office.

The only new Tomtom due is the 920, all the others have just been updated.
Last year many of the prices went up and up as you got closer to Christmas then 'reduced', but only to the level they were at in sept/oct.

Best deal at the moment is probably the Tomtom 910 for £129 from Halfords, most of them are display models and difficult to find but well worth it if you can get one. You can then update the software to match the current models(v7).

Most of the cheap satnavs(<£100) are fine if you have no plans to update the maps. Personally i think for the extra £30 or so your better off going for a Tomtom or Garmin with the after sales back up and ability to update to newer maps every year.

Make sure you ask for a discount if it's a display model. Got 25% off mine, although a couple of bits were missing but the discount covers buying the missing bits.

Others have been getting discounts on complete units as well..
