If you have an up to date Symbian Phone (Nokia N73, N95 etc) you can get Tom-Tom software for your phone for around £80. You do need a bluetooth GPS reciever (which you can pick up on ebay for about £20) but even with that it's still loads cheaper than a stand alone unit. There are no extra hidden GPS costs as all tom-tom is doing is effectvley using the phone as a 'host' for the software. The little bluetooth receivers are amazing, (mine even works keeping it in the glove box!).
Sounds good. How much does one of these phones cost?0 -
Be careful of this one - I got one and although it's great to use, they can't be updated so your maps will go out of date and there's nothing you can do about it. I checked with myguide and they confirmed this so be careful!!0

MyGuide uses iGo software which can be updated (maps included ) easily from the internet (or, if copyrights are important to you, it is possible to purchase it - the software and maps are updated often - see www.i-go.com) - by the way, iGO is excellent navigation program, in line with TomTomboltonboywonder wrote: »Be careful of this one - I got one and although it's great to use, they can't be updated so your maps will go out of date and there's nothing you can do about it. Is this sat nav any good at all?http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0390150/Trail/C%24cip%3D1500006333.Garden%2C%2BDIY%2Band%2Bleisure%3EC%24cip%3D1500006433.Sat%2BNav%2Band%2Balert%2Bsystems.htm
I need one that I can use in europe so all your help will be very much appreciated and preferably with speed cameras too.0 -
Theres a lot of good info here on sat navs, i'm looking for an entry level (cheapish) system. Have read some very poor reviews on tomtoms one and one europe system and am looking at the navman s30.
If anyone has reviews/info on this one or any other specific sites any info appreciated.

I would AVOID the £60 Medion GOPAL PNA 210 at all costs. You get what you pay for basically, and the Medion is rubbish. You would probably be better off without one, definitely safer without one, when it goes wrong mid drive and you have to faff around with it to try and get it working again putting you in danger. Don't waste your money.
Took advice on this site and got a Medion 210 fron Toys'r'us (would you believe) and it's been excellent. Fast satelite recognition through sirfstar3 and great mapping, it's been absolutely spot on for directions all over the country. Cost £59.99. It does howerer have some serious limitations - it will not make you a cup of tea and will not navigate distant countries that I have no intention of going to.
Got to think that some posters on this site are deliberately negative for "perhaps" commercial reasons.0 -

AHHHH! I am having so much hastle trying to get one of these sat navs from currys.
I ordered one to collect yesterday from the only store in the northwest i could find that had one, Kendal. The website said the shop closed at 5.30, the confirmation message said it closed at 5.30, when i phoned to confirm i could collect it i was told it closed at 5.30.
I drove the 60 miles from blackpool only to find it had closed at 5pm.
Today I have been on the phone for over 45mins telling thre same story to a dozen people at currys, who kept passing me on to someone else , but i'm still no closer to getting the thing.0 -
Yesterday I looked at the Comet Offer for the Garmin i3 refurbished. Today It has been removed from their site. I presume they have sold out.
With Xmas not far off I will be looking out for similar bargain offers that include the Europe Maps.0
