Hi there, I need a satnav not only for UK but for Western Europe as well as I take a hire car when I go for holidays in Europe. I am going to Switzerland in December, so could someone please suggest any good/ cheap options for me?
I also have O2 XDA IIi with 512 MB SD card. Its a touch screen phone with a large screen. Should I buy a GPS receiver and navigation Software for UK and Europe? Would that work well and should it be cheaper?
Thanks for your suggestions in advance...

Does anyone know how the Becker 7934 compares with the above units?
It's on clearance at Viking Direct for £99.99, was formerly well over £200.

Get a Garmin C510 for £100 here: http://www.mynewcheap.co.uk/products/details/garmin-streetpilot-i3-sat-nav/7650/
The blurb is for a garmin i3 but they send you the C510 instead which is a better model. We did it and it's a great sat nav - it has a slightly bigger screen than the i3 and it also is a touch screen so very easy to use. Ours came with free traffic sensor so the sat nav automatically recalculates routes if it detects traffic. This is apparently worth £50 in itself. Not sure if current deal includes that - can't remember if it was specified when we ordered. But they are very helpful when you ring up.0 -

Don't know if there's any left as they where a special off last week but I bought a "Cartek" (iirc) from www.aria.co.uk for £49.99+Vat with UK & Ireland maps installed on an SD card. It also came with a secondary GPS antenna for poor reception areas ... being used in NI and works a treat.
3" touch screen, both car & mains charger, mounting cradle, carry case etc...
With the extra antenna plugged in I was picking up around 8-12 sats.0 -
I've just bought a sat nav for my parents and I came to the conclusion that the Garmin Nuvi 300 was the one to go for (88% rating by Which (inc 5 stars in all usability categories), 9.5/10 from Review centre) and it was only £117.99 from

It was cheaper than the TomTom One's and based on the comments I've seen around it was better . . . but no one else here has even mentioned it
- have I goofed ?0 -
I would AVOID the £60 Medion GOPAL PNA 210 at all costs. You get what you pay for basically, and the Medion is rubbish. You would probably be better off without one, definitely safer without one, when it goes wrong mid drive and you have to faff around with it to try and get it working again putting you in danger. Don't waste your money.

Pay a bit extra and get a TomTom, you won't regret it!0
