  • How to find the cheapest sat nav?
Well, without a sat nav, will have to resort to a map to get to the shops.
Then, after buying a 3"square gizmo, get it stuck on the windscreen about 3" down from rear view mirror and 2" to the right(next to your i-pod). Great, something to direct you to where you are going! But with the added distraction, obstruction of forward vision(by travel aids) and increasing poor driving ability of other drivers it may get you straight to a grave yard?

  • I purchased the 8300 direct from Evesham 3 weeks ago (cheapest by far) had it sent ordinary 1st class delivery and it arrived in 3 days, came with all the bits as promised:T
Great service for the price - But after a few weeks with it I discovered that a lot of addresses couldnt be located by it??. (This seems to be a common fault with all of the satnavs - out of date maps - read the reviews on Ebuyer Etc). Went on their website to download an update and there isnt one???. Contacted them saying "whats the use of an out of date satnav??" and "can I have a refund please - nicely"
Their reply in a nutshell was - Sorry valued customer but no updates and the bad new is if you dont discover its no use in the first 7 DAYS from delivery you're stuck with it for good. Thanks you!!!. Goodby.
So I now have an out of date satnav - maybe a map book would have been better - and cheaper??? Beware misleading promises in these companies blurbs they are cleverly worded - non say "MAPS OUT OF DATE BY UP TO 3 YEARS" :rotfl:
  • I'm a satnav virgin, so apologies if this is a basic question.

What's the cheapest & best satnav with traffic updates?

Are traffic updates worth the extra cost?

How can I find out if there is satnav for my mobile? (I have an LG U300).

    Thanks in advance!

  • John - you can get traffic information over a FM transmitted network called TMC.. I found this TMC enabled Satnav that's an extremely reasonable price:

Here's a bundle that would do something similar:

Personally i'd go for the garmin from here:

Sounds like you have a case under the Sale of Goods Act as the product is not fit for purpose. Write to them and tell them that if you don't get a refund within 7 days you will take them to the Small Claims Court.

  • Not the cheapest ! Halfords have the Garmin 310 Deluxe reduced from £270 to £200. Came out well in Which ? report so bought it 2 weeks ago.

Travelled to Derby last weekend got warning of all permenent speed cameras and alerts of mobile cameras. Sat nav gave me hands free on my mobile. thought I had a problem no traffic alerts to warn of traffic jams. Which had been advertised as free for life ! Checked the web and the lead I needed was on sale for £150 ! Checked the box and it was there !

My first Sat Nav has a lot for the money - you get what you pay for ?
  • Apparently you can add TMC to the PNA205 if you buy the 60 quid cable.. dunno if you need to upgrade the Go Pal navigation software though

Yesterday I bought a Navman F10 from Cosstco. It is usually £110 ex VAT but has £30 off this week, making it about £92 incl VAT. I havent used it yet, but it looks lovely.

DH has a fab SatNav in his car, factory fitted etc and so I have some experience of a top of the range one. Will see how this little one compares!
