Happy hollibobs, Valli.
I hope the move goes smoothly, Jazee.
Well, DH spent half the morning at the doc's yesterday and was given a (for him) almost clean bill of health. This morning he will be phoning the surgery again, as his heart is playing jazz rhythms that even Dave Brubeck couldn't have coped with
I need to get on with clearing this RoD if it's to be ready for DGS1+2 on Tuesday. Yesterday a bit more paperwork hit the shredder/filing cabinet as appropriate, as I dealt with another batch, but I got waylaid taking photos of the child car seats that I'm hoping to sell on to a friend for her grandson.0 -
Enjoy the hols/break anyone who's having them.
Hope Mr ionafan is ok.
I've had a busy week with 2 long, hard assessments and a long tutorial with a student doing her dissertation.
Have done my final run before tomorrow's Park Run so I've had plenty of angst checking the weather forecast (not promising), worrying that I'll run out of steam, cursing my non-slinkiness as I'd have liked a wonderful photo of a slender almost-pensioner crossing the finish line. I'm not usually so vain!
Also marathon flying(mainly Mr N), food shopping, flower buying, foliage picking etc for visitors and church decorating. Gammon in slo cooker. Brother arrived last night, sil later today.
So today's main task is arranging lilies etc, may go to 2pm church service, sort dinner, be sociable- easy with db and sil - and try not to panic about the run!
Happy thoughts to all.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
Just a heads-up; not sure if I will have internet so next week's thread may be delayed until Monday. Given Monday's a BH anyway this is the list...

morning
I've been like the walking dead since we changed the clocks - it's the same every SpringHowever I'm hoping this early Easter break will help me to reset my internal clock.
Still a bit groggy this morning even though I've had a lie-in.. or maybe because I've had a lie-in? ... natural inclination is to do sod-all, so I'm reporting for duty as making myself accountable to you spurs me on to do something even if it's bimbling, pootling, bumbling and fluttering rather than full on flying
All I've done so far is don my dressing gown and drink a hot brew,
so,here we go, Round 1 =
1. get washed and dressed
2. make the bed
3. feed the birds
4. put out rubbish and recycling
5. put paper recycling in to new box & bin old box :T
6. make a note to get a new '6' sticker for new box
7. sort Mount Washmore in to hillocks
8. WM x 1
9. WUDUPA a bowl of pots
10. breakfast & another brew
Hopefully I'll find my GUAG hidden somewhere
Back later

Morning all,
Hope Your DH is ok, Iona. X
Hope you are feeling better, Natty. X
Have lovely holibobs to all those escaping the routine.
It's been manic here for the past couple of days. I thought yesterday at work would never end - both of us in the office thought we were just going to stand and scream at one point. And breathe, it is the end of term. At home, I managed to prevent WW3 from breaking out - not once, but twice. DH and DD are either the best of friends or they continually poke at each other.
Anyway, domestic calm has been restored - in so far as I am trying to pack up to get away for a few days. That said DD is still in bed, but will emerge just in time as usual - enough to make her father crawl the walls. I'm also heading HB's way, on my way to Mademoiselle land. It will be gentle flying next week, interspersed with walking wet dogs, knitting and reading. Oh and just maybe a bit of red wine and cheese. Well that's my plan anyway. In anticipation, I had a slinky weigh in this morning, and can report no change. As I had a bowl of chips midweek and shared a bottle of wine last night, I guess that isn't bad.0 -
Round 1 completed
- GUAG not located
I've also opened windows upstairs, changed the towels in the bathroom, sloshed bleach down the loo, hung 1st load of washing on airer and set second load sploshing.
Going to have a lunch break before I do anything else .
Back later.

Very jealous of you Fayolle - we normally do that trip for my birthday even if it's only for 24 hours, but with Devil Cat's drug regime Kelpie's separation anxiety and our normal dogsitter now working full time for the PDSA it looks as though we're going to have to forgo it for the forseeable future. OH and I have agreed to spend more time exploring Devon and Cornwall together this year instead which isn't a bad option, is it? And Kelps will love it because he can come with us. Have a lovely time and wave a baguette for me, please.
Safe journey Valli, and have a lovely time. If anyone were in Plymouth, Jojo's absolutely right about the best place for fish and chips - all three establishments are excellent. I like Rockfish mostly because the food's fab, you get ad lib hot, fresh chips whenever you dine there, and Mitch Tonks specialises in using less well known fish to combat the over-fishing of certain species. And the third Friday of every month they do 'Fish Friday' £3 fish and chips. Bargain.
Enjoy your egg hunt, Kazwookie!
I've a list as long as my arm today and no energy, but I've started working my way through the obvious things that need dealing with. Bones trimmed and frozen, dead flowers chucked, new plants sitting out on the sundeck getting a bit of fresh air, washing up done. I've still got to:
- do some minutes
- clean the birdfeeders
- change the bed
- turn the double around
- do some washing even if the forecast is terrible. We're both running out of broggies.
That's enough for one day, I think.
The very first thing I have to do is work out how to get rid of a large black thing that's telling me to pin contacts to my taskbar so I can talk to them whenever. How did whoever did this convince themselves it was a good idea to invade my screenspace?Better is good enough.0 -
GWS wishes for Natty - hope the tum is a bit better today.
Hope Mr Ionafan is OK.Am taking Pass The Bomb. Am NOT taking Cards Against HumanityHave a great holiday.
We have Mr LW's pal coming over tonight. I think I may just cry.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon all. After a manic morning of cleaning etc DD is now in her new house. It is lovely. I've left them to unpack and have come home to walk the dogs and eat, before going out tonight.Spend less now, work less later.0
