Got back after [strike]studiously avoiding the end of term speeches[/strike] working flat out in the department until after the permitted leaving time, to find I'd been posted my old school reports by my sister.
Why did she have them? They'd have been in my mother's house Why is my sister getting access to our mother's papers? _pale_
Fortunately, I could get in touch and it was because there was a leak in the roof at her house and the council had forcibly cleared the room of everything because it had been soaked, having been leaking for a long time before it was noticed (what with the place being kept as a midden) - my sister had gone round and was allowed to clear a lot of the junk in one of the other rooms (two skips worth and multiple trips to the tip already, apparently). She's going back again now it seems to be accepted that the house needs to be cleaned up and will keep an eye out for anything I'd be interested in.
Which is nice (and brave) of her. I'm not volunteering after the last time I tried to help.
But really - was it so hard to stick a Post-It in the envelope to say that, rather than have the 'Is she dead/in a Home' moments?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
JoJo I am worried that the novelty of the new vacuum cleaner is going to wear off. But hey, maybe that's unfair.
Madly busy at job no. 1, been to a meeting at job no. 2, gathered up all the work to be done, stuffed it into my bag and headed home. Walked in to find the place looks like a tip and wish I had stayed where I was.
So I am shutting myself away in my office to get on with more work. Have put some stewing beef in the sc for tea, hoping there is something veggie in the freezer for me.
But more work first.0 -
Another soggy skirt decluttered to the wash bin. Apparently, Indi has decided that my skirt - as in the one I am wearing at the time - is his personal towel. :rotfl: Bless him, he's only 9 months old, so he's still learning what is acceptable behaviour. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Rockfish is good for a nice meal, but quite Hipster. For a sit down meal that's cheap and has masses, Platters is great, or for eating out of a box, Harbourside.
('Tis also the OH's Land, stretching from there to the deepest arzeend of the Moor.) Quite jealous as we're not going down this holiday, due to Himself doing his Caribbean Tour the week I go back to work, so have to keep funds available in case he does something stupid like twists his ankle or gets seasick - not covered by Insurance, as he's working rather than holidaying. Would have been nice to see the primroses in bloom, lambing/calving in full swing, etc, etc.
He's busy practising upstairs at present. It sounds as though he's playing at exactly the fundamental frequency of a beer glass or two on the shelf next to him, as I can hear the strings and a ping-ping of two different notes like a sonar. Either that or he's found a way to make it sound like the Hunt for the Red October and is DELIBERATELY trying to DRIVE ME MAD.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Ah, when I said Honey Bear land I was being a bit vague. Top coast not bottom.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Valli, have fun.
Morning ladies. Just got up with the dogs but I will be going back to bed for a little while.
I'm helping DD move house today which I had been looking forward to, but they had problems with the water/boiler at the new house last night and her OH drove the hire van into a post, so I know that she will just be in the foulest mood.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0
