[Hugs, sticks and buckets chucked in the general direction of all who need them]
Had my customary busman's holiday with Himself yesterday. The gig was at a hive of scum and villainy somewhere in the Midlands. There were 20 somethings absolutely paralytic at 5pm .
Then ended up guiding one of them out of the door [strike]with his feet off the ground[/strike] when he decided it was a good idea to get up on stage and grope the teeny fiddle player before the singer got off the stage. And then bounced another lanky streak off me twice when some p*d up bint started taking chunks out of him because his girlfriend sat in 'her' seat whilst she was outside [strike]exchanging protein strands with another random[/strike] (the alternative would have been getting squished/slammed against the wall as he was sent flying).
As the band were at the point of downing tools and joining in, having the perfect view of everything I'd dealt with so far and could see this wasn't going to end well if I received any direct aggression from anybody - I then got invited by the soundguy to perch up behind the desk for the rest of the gig.
On load out, after another scrawny one got scared off from trying the handle of the van by me just standing and looking at him, I stood onstage with the gear as the guys started to take things out. Apparently, it's quite common for punters to leap up on the stage the moment a band has finished and the DJ starts.
Not this time, sunshine. One went to, but was hastily dragged back by his friends as I slo-ow-ly turned my head towards him.
Got back the the singer's flat at about 4am, unloaded and then crashed for a couple of hours at a friend of the guitarist's. And slept the sleep of the Innocent [strike]with a slight glow of admiration from the band because this has never happened to me before and they never expected that little old limpy, lovely, cuddly and supportive me would and could not only hoy people over a foot taller and twenty odd years younger than me over a distance of at least six foot without even putting any effort into it, I could scare ones who had seen me do it into behaving with just a look[/strike]
Back home just after midday, went to bed for a nice nap until 6pm and now Himself is out getting Chinese Food. Because I feel like I've been to the gym and 'definitely earned it' yesterday.
I am really hoping that they don't ever agree to go back there again - I've not experienced that in all my years and, whilst I am obviously a Completely Respectable and Sober Mature Lady with Enhanced DBS Status and a Chronic Degenerative Medical Condition, I really don't fancy the time and inconvenience of having to explain to the Local Constabulary just why (or how) I've taken out half the local population in under three hours.
Oooh, Kung-Pow Chicken. Himself is looking rather amused with himself for picking that dish.
This is going to take a long time to live down, isn't it?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Go JoJo. Have to admit I would have been terrified.
Huge frog munching today. I have a box of papers from the voluntary job that I did 10/12 years ago. Having asked if they wanted the box back and got no response I decided to get rid of it all. 90% of it was confidential so had to be shredded and as it was all stapled/fastened together it has taken me ages. BUT 5 bin bags now to go to recycling tomorrow and one small folder with a few bits in that probably should be kept which I am happy to stash away somewhere for now.
In between shredding we have been to the shops to buy a new microwave (I have condemned ours after it started to smell funny) and did a few other bits of shopping.
And I have eaten loads of rubbish (fish and chips plus chinese takeaway plus crips and chocolates). Oh well. Its been a good weekend so far, except for the weather which is dreadful!0 -

I grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, as it were, so violence and anticipating violence was a daily occurrence at home, school and everywhere in between (the latter thanks to the herds of National Front filth and the almost equally disgusting Special Patrol Group units looking for trouble) - it's not bravery, more a resigned irritation at having to do anything resembling effort when it's been blatantly obvious for at least five minutes that something is about to happen and, against my wishes, I've not been able to extricate myself from the situation before it becomes anything serious.
Himself is a little freaked out by it, as he says he'd freeze in a situation and isn't happy about how it reminds him that my childhood wasn't like his happy, secure one. But the rest of the band reckon it's going into band legend - it also proves beyond doubt, apparently, that my genetic heritage is 'obviously' Irish in behaviour as well as by appearance. :cool:I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Morning all
I was going to say I was first up but either you are early as well JoJo, or maybe havent been to bed yet.
DS1 has just come in. Front door slams, stomps up the stairs, puts bedroom light and bathroom light on, stomps back down stairs to find food and puts kettle on (which sounds like a jet engine taking off at the best of times), this wakes the dog up who starts barking. I get out of bed before DH gets up and lynches him. Awww give us a hug Mum says slightly tipsy DS then proceeds to talk very loudly about his night out. I think I need to hoover his bedroom - about 8am perhaps?
Ah well, I wasnt having the best nights sleep anyway, might as well get on with sorting more paperwork out.0 -
Morning flyers. I am up because the dogs are up.
It is dry here at the moment so I MUST do something in the garden today.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning all,
I have been AWOL as came down with a bad fever on Friday afternoon. Sweating, shaking, shivering and aching all over. Finally feel better this morning thank goodness. All I fancied eating are salt & vinegar crisps and fizzy water.
DH and I had a huge argument yesterday and I told him some home truths - yes he works very hard but working away is making him selfish, and when away he is in the pub each night with clients. I understand the corporate entertainment side of it - before I had kids and had a proper job I used to have to do that weekly as well - but he comes home and we seem to get the dregs of him, work and his clients get the best. I told him I felt it would be easier if I was single, at least then I wouldnt feel like a mug/slave/skivvy and resent him for it. It seemed to sink in, so we shall see.
Onto today. He got up with the kids at 5am and did an egg hunt with them. I am in bed with a brew.
I have loads of flying I want to crack on with as we go away on Thursday for a few days, and I never did list anything on eBay so will do that.
YL - I hope your DS is ok. Well done on the paperwork sorting, hope you get a nap later xx
Iona - how is DH today?
Dancemum - ouch, hope you feel better soon, how is dancepops?
Piggers - wow you were a whirlwind yesterday!
Happy Easter all xxMFW
