Get the documents and get it renewed.

That is the plan, but this is not an option at the minute. Looking for a solution that I can do now, though having doubts that there are any.

You may need to apply for an EU ID card then contact HMRC for a tax notification which they can post out.

Get the passport sorted ASAP - this is not going to be an isolated problem and you may well come across this problem again.

If you are just 18 then you will have had a child passport (Kinderausweis) and will need to contact the German consulate to obtain your first adult passport. You say you have your birth certificate and if you have been in the UK for 4 years presumably your parents are with you.
What documentation do you lack exactly in order to obtain a passport or identity card from the German consulate?

    Hi Ben,
I have my birth certificate but banks decline it because it's "not in the right format" and it also has m old last name on it, so that would cause even more complications.

I've lived here since 2010 so yes, it's been about 7-8 years.

I lack the documentations which basically confirms that I no longer live in Germany, and other documents bundled with that.

Banks are strictly regulated and simply can't afford to deal with people they can't ID properly.

Some workplaces will pay into someone else's bank account. Do you have a trusted relative you can use in the short-term?

I really don't get this. So the OP is absolutely refusing to obtain a valid ID document which is their legal obligation but they insist that everybody else must comply with their desires just because they said so. And people here are really trying to figure out a way to help them get what they want without doing what they are obligated to do. That's funny. So let's imagine the scene:
    I enter the Manchester Airport:
    - Good morning, Sir, may I have your passport please?
    - No, that's not an option.
    - I can't let you in then, Sir. Unless you give me your ID.
    - I work for a British company and I am an EU citizen and I have the right of free movement, so you must let me fly today. There is my passport that has expired 4 years ago.
    - I'm sorry, Sir, I can't consider your expired passport. You need to have a valid one.
    - That's not an option because I have rights. And besides I have a birth certificate with a different name on it. So I will fly now.

Come oooooon! That's ridiculous. And besides in some EU countries if you don't renew your passport within 6 months after it's expiration or don't return it to the state, you get fined.

Learning the difference between a bank account and a credit card might be a helpful way to start rectifying the situation?

Yes, you are right. This is a completely wrong place for this thread. But who cares? They have the right to do whatever they want without adhering to the rules that were created for the stupid people.

I get that. But essentially, if you have the right to work, you should have the right to have a bank account to actually get paid for your work... Right???
You do have the right to a basic bank account, it's just that correct proof of 'you' is required.

Have you tried applying for a Loot account as I suggested? Unlike Monzo and Starling it's not a bank proper, so if they can ID you electronically at your address there may be less need for them to see proof, or perhaps the expired passport is sufficient if they do require something. It gives a sort code and account number, prepaid MasterCard, so all you need for now.

It's not that I'm avoiding it, it's that this is currently literally impossible to do. It's not like I'm being stubborn and avoiding to renew my passport at all costs. I was just wondering if there were any other options where I can open some kind of account to put money in.
