    Hi all,

Good to see all the hard work going on!

    Well what's happening with me...

    * I'm now teaching 3 days a week so very busy with that and still trying to clear the last few NVQ candidates who seem to be taking ages, as soon as they're gone I can relax a bit and concentrate on the teaching and work placements. The extra money will be very handy though :D
    * Dh has had to leave his application with police as they didn't have another training day, it made more sense to finish TA training and stay in his work then reapply in 6 months time or whenever they advertise again.

In terms of finances, we have a big purchase to pay for before we can start overpayments again. At the weekend we went to buy a new sofa (or two in fact) as it's the first ones we've ever bought we chose the ones we really liked. We've always had sofas from other people so it was great to actually have something we wanted for a change. We've got it on 12 months interest free credit and we can pay off installments as we go or the entire lump sum at the end of the year, so we are currently paying in extra to a savings account which will not be touched! So £1322.00 to find , need to update siggy to plot my progress.

We are also saving a bit for Christmas, possibly a bit late to start but never mind, I'm also putting vouchers towards this.

After we have paid off the sofa we can start the mortgage payments again and also save for holiday, house decorations, etc etc...always something!

    Hello all,

Hope you're all OK - I've decided to pull out of the marathon today as still unwell and haven't been able to get out for 2 weeks training, am very disappointed but OK with my decision as there will always be next year. I'm going to concentrate on the shorter races for now.

    In money news:

    * TA are cutting back on training however dh will still be going away for final training fortnight and getting paid for it but after that there will be no payments until at least April 2010. The decision to keep going is dependent on each unit, e.g. a unit in the north west has folded because of no pay, but dh unit is still carrying on with the training, social nights etc with no pay because they are commited and will still be learning their trade so benefits even without the financial reward.

    * Savings are slow, I need to be more organised again with transfering even a few pennies savings to the various pots. I have a diary now to write everything in so now I have a bit of free time I can really knuckle down and get sorted.

    * Pay day on 28th so will see how much extra I'll get from teaching, won't have as much next month as had a couple of days off due to sickness.

    * Big house clean going on getting ready for Christmas, hope to persuade dh to sell some games and books!

Eva, sorry to hear about the TA, what a shame, but good that he will still get the benefit from going along.
Always feels better to be organised - think I'll follow your lead and have a go!

Good afternoon, having a busy but enjoyable weekend.

There are 9 areas of the house to be decluttered and degunged, so far I've done the shelves and cupboards in the kitchen that always seem to get things dumped on them, need to teach dh that his keys, phone etc are not to be left there anymore!

I've also done ds room, including 2 bags of clothes sorted for washing ready for him now he's growing so fast. Just from tidying his room and dd room I've got 3 bags of items ready to go to the charity shop (nothing worth selling).

So far house clearing going well, feels good to get rid of so much that's not needed.

I've started listing in my diary when I need to transfer savings from budgeted expenses e.g phone bill is than monthly budget so will transfer the difference.

The rest of the day will be spent doing the laundry and potting up my herbs, hope everyone has a good weekend x

    HI all,

I've just sent my first OP for ages, some extra cash and have set up my mortgage account on my online bank so I can transfer whenever I like. Should have done it a long time ago but now's a new start.

Had a lovely day in Chester yesterday with my dd and dh, it's dd birthday next weekend but dh is going away tomorrow so will miss it. We thought we'd treat her to a trip on the train and a morning shopping, I spent some of my teaching money on some new trainers which were much needed as old ones falling to bits now!

Not much else happening, not looking forward to dh being away, have to travel to Grantham on Friday 13th to pick him up - staying overnight at Travelodge which was only £25 for a family room.

:THugh thanks to WelshLassie for bumping her update checks post, I relealised that saving £2's in a tin was not going to help really and would be better off in the bank then send to mortgage.

I opened it and there was:

    £100 in £2 coins
    £8 in £1 coins
Some other change, a couple of hair bands and a hair clip - which suggests that dd has been contributing :rotfl:

So paying £100 off mortgage and will be putting the rest to good use, namely a birthday card for dd and I'm sure I'll use the rest wisely!
