So, you have had a blip. But you are back now.
I find if i stop visiting here i can easily get distracted/tempted by so many little things which soon add up.
Maybe when your students have left you might get a bit more time over the summer to get your thoughts fully together and mount an attack. Just be thankful that you have been good before and can get back to it.
We are all here to keep you going if you want us too. Welcome back.0 -
Well hello, remember me? I’ve had a bit of a break to sort out a few things but I’ve still been keeping up to date with the threads.
So here’s where things are at the moment:
Work – Still assessing both Health and Social Care and also Sports, I’m really enjoying the mixture and work are paying for loads of training so I can update my Sports qualifications. My youngsters in the BTEC group finish in 4 weeks time so won’t have any teaching until September.
Glad you're enjoying it and yay!!! for the summer off
Home – All really busy but happy and healthy, kiddies are growing so fast – the littlest will be 2 in a few weeks time! Looking forward to our family holiday in August.
Brilliant - and two years old already!
Finanaces – OK so here’s where is looks a bit pear-shaped and slightly embarrassing::o:(
· Mortgage – We have had to change to Interest Only for 12 months as we’ve been finding to hard to manage each month especially with the other things below. Obviously this will set us back a bit but is best for us at the moment, hubbies job is OK at the moment but we know it won’t last forever and we need to get sorted now.
Surely much better to go interest only now and get to grips with everything than start going into arrears. Marathon not a sprint and all that
· Credit card – Stupidly we have spent so much, not large purchases but little bits when we didn’t have quite enough now it’s got to £1900! I have already sorted that the card is cancelled and we are just paying off the balance with interest at the old rate as it was due to go up. Will never have a credit card again, we can’t be trusted!
So easily done, especially when money's tight. Could you shift it to a 0% deal though? There's quite a few around at the moment
· Sofa – haven’t saved up enough but we be sorted – see below.
· Overdraft – still in use need to pay off.
So we have been rubbish but are pulling it back:
· Today I received a cheque for my inheritance for £7000, we are spending £5000 on a car as this is needed. The rest will clear the overdraft, pay off the sofa and a little bit spent on clothes for dd as growing quickly and some clothes for me.
· Money from mortgage reduction to be used for credit card along with any other payments I get from surveys.
· DH is finally (only taken 15years) going to take a more active part in the finances instead of leaving it to me and them spending loads without a thought to what bills need to be paid. Hurrah to that! My hubby has finally got round to shifting a very old (and rather large) debt to a 0% deal. He couldn't quite believe how much sooner it'd be paid off and how much cheaper it would be. No, really! Just shows, if you lead a horse to water EVENTUALLY it will drink! :rotfl:
As always we will look to reduce other bills as far as possible, my mobile contract is due to end next month so that will be the first thing to reduce.
So really embarrassed but glad we are being sensible with the inheritance and promise to do better.
I don't really see what you've got to be embarrassed about. You're doing great
P.S veggies are doing really well, very pleased with crop this year.
Hurrah for veggies and great to see you back. How's the running?Updating soon...0 -
Thank you both for your thoughts, it's good to be back around supportive and welcoming people!
BTW not off for summer as teaching is extra to my duties so over summer I just get more NVQ candidates!
Courgette running is going well although mixing in cycling and swimming too, I'm doing the local Race for Life on Sunday and off to Cardiff in a couple of weeks to do a Leadership in Running Fitness course so I can lead my own group of runners - very excited!0 -
Lovely to 'see' you again hun
So we have been rubbish but are pulling it back
I don't think it's that rubbish, just normal life.

Great to hear all is well. I also don't think you have been rubbish, life changes and you are adjusting now.

Well we're off to a good start, cheque has cleared so we able to clear some debts. I've transferred £500 to the overdraft so that is clearing tomorrow and will give us a fresh start as DH is paid on Tuesday, all accounts are written down to the penny and DH is shown this along with a list of what is still to pay for until I get paid.
We got a big lump sum from tax credits, that majority has been used to pay for childcare as I'm not sure when dd's voucher comes in next and I hate owing them money.
I'll be paying off the sofas tomorrow and then we can start attacking the credit card.
Some things to sort/sorted:
* Mobile phone contract is up and have reduced this to £20 per month - a saving of £10pm, this comes with a new phone (free) which sell for over £150 on ebay - not sure if I might keep it or sell it to put towards the credit card which would be more sensible.
* Final mobile phone redemption claim to be sent tomorrow so should get a cheque for either £15 or £25 and again this will be put on C/C.
* DH has also got a mobile claim due of £27.50 -again for C/C
* Need to pay final balance of holiday £94
* Dad's birthday prezzie
* Save a bit of spending money for holiday
* Off to start looking at cars this weekend
