Time to rethink and refocus on my plans for the future.

In terms of money saving i.e. the sofa saving this is going steadily, I don't want to put too much in at the moment as it's getting nearer to Christmas so I want to keep spare cash, that said I also would like to keep going again with the mortgage OPs. I've now got transfers set up from both bank accounts so that small amounts of money (under £10) can be sent directly and that will come off the mortgage as a whole but anything over £10 will be sent as a cheque so that it can come off the secured loan part, the monthly payment for this part is £37.20 so I can be paying off many months of payments early.

The current balance of the secured part is £6179.24 so with the £100 sent and a couple of extra payments this will be under £6000 :T

Long term plans have been going around in my head and chatting with dh, I would really love to be at home with the kids and at the most only work part-time. I love my job but I really hate leaving them for so long. At home I could be growing veg, looking after the kids, doing up the house etc, we would have to carefully look at incomes and wants (holidays, decorating etc) and needs (car issues, maintainence and bills etc) to see whether this is feasible but my gut feeling is that if we can bring down the mortgage to at least half it's current balance then we could seriously look at this.

The house we are in is a long-term plan and we have a lot of ideas for improvements to make it fantastic, so part-time working might be necessary to achieve this still.

I really want this to happen, so I'm determined to keep up with the finances so that it becomes a reality!

Gas/Electric bill today, we're £57 in credit and our monthly payments are dropping from £108pm to £94 so an extra £14 to send to mortgage OP:D, now do I request that £57 pounds back or leave it in there especially since it's now getting on for winter so consumption will be going up a bit

Oh how sweet, I like that one too!

Thinking about what a difference saving money rather than wasting, and working so hard to pay off the mortgage is really motivational, it sounds like you are really determined:A!

Those are kind of the same reasons as me if we ever do have kids, I don't want to work as much as I do. Thanks you have jolted me into action a bit too!

    Hi all,

Have been away for a couple of days as picked up dh from his TA training in Grantham and we stayed there a couple of nights. DH got best recruit award so was really proud when in marched out to get his award, the weekend has been spent enjoying family time and time with each other ;):D

So back to work now, and starting to get ready for Christmas. In good news our sofas are being delivered on Friday I had visions of the family sitting around on bean bags on Christmas day :rotfl:, thankfully the sofas will be a little more comfy!

Savings for the sofa are going steadily and I've just sent a small payment to mortgage from counting up the doggie bank (£7), should have some more little bits to send soon.

Right will catch up with all your diaries over the day, Ev x
