Hello all, still plodding away but dh got an unexpected phone call yesterday apparently someone has taken voluntary redundancy and he was their first option to keep in post. So a little breather for about 6 months as then there will be another round, but hey it's 6 months more than we expected.

He has applied to be a Police Community Support Officer and will continue with this as it would suit him, it's a bit more safe and also will be a few grand pay rise.

So no time to sit still, we have a lot of saving still to do but the pressure is off for a bit at least. :D

Happy birthday Tom! That's come round quickly :bdaycake:
And good luck for the marathon. We've got a 10 mile run on 26th September and I'm getting quite concerned about whether we'll both still be alive at the end of it. If it comes to it we'll have to walk! :o

Well hello everyone, I've been reading your posts and following all your progress I'm just finishing some NVQ candidates at work and starting with my new teaching role in the college. I'm meeting 40 students on Mon/Tues and then will start teaching with them next week. My level 4 course starts at the end of the month which is great as I haven't got anything prepared because they hadn't finalised what units I was teaching .

Apart from that whats been happening:

    * DH got a letter yesterday saying he's through to the next stage of becoming a PCSO, he has to get lots of medical forms completed and then attend a training day to complete some more tests, unfortunately it's whilst he's away on the last training weekend with the TA so he is going to reschedule with the police as he would have to do all the training weekends with the TA again from the beginning!
His TA is going well, after the last weekend he has a break until the 31st October where he goes away for 2 weeks it will be the longest we've ever spent apart in 14 years of marriage.
    * My teaching role will bring in some extra pennies as I'll be at college for 2 days.
    * Other pennies are coming in from scratch cards, a few mystery shops and surveys still.

We are still finding it hard to manage the bills at times, but on Friday we had another good chat about what we can do and I reminded him that we HAVE to stick to our budgets and not like last week spend £80 on the weekly shop and then spend another £30 over the weekend  £80 itself is far too much to spend and it didn't even include nappies last week!

We have agreed that we should start sending overpayments again as we need to be in a better LTV position if we want to look at remortgaging next year. I've got a m/s on weds to get a quote for a mortgage so it will be interesting to see what offers are around at the mo.

I need to build up our savings, and I need a goal to aim for otherwise I'm rubbish at saving so I think my first goal will be to save £500 which is low but achieveable so should spur me on for better things. How did I manage to save £1000 whilst on maternity leave!:o

Apart from that we're OK, my training for the marathon is going well I'm up to 15 miles as my long run so need to put in the training in the next few weeks as it's only 7 weeks away now :D.
