5 1/2 more assignments to go! had a busy weekend so not able to do much, but will definitely finish another today and start on the next one.
I hate not making any overpayments but never mind, roll on next month.0 -
Hi Ev
Answering the question from my thread - I teach everything - all subjects and across the age range to GCSE .
I work for a new service that educates children with medical needs in their homes. Got a job as a TA with them when I came back from France but a teaching post has come up so I've gone for it. I have an interview but I actually think it's a bit unlikely they will appoint me as they want Science and/or IT as a specialism, and I'm no expert in either although my IT isn't bad. The other job is for a Lead TA but the shortlisting hasn't happened yet.
I think there will be more generic posts coming up soon as we're rushed off our feet!
Well done on the assignments - keep going!!!

Not a lot happening in sunny prestatyn except:
* dd has chicken pox so at home all week - all appointments for work cancelled, she's ok but didn't want to go to nursery even though they said it was ok as everyone has had it there.
* dh has stopped his extra job - they were messing him about, every time he went in something was wrong with the chairs and tables, they spoke to him like a child and generally were just fussy busybodies! so no extra income from that but he is relieved and I knew it was to be a short term job.
* I will work on more assignments today, better to use the extra time from not going to work than doing at the weekend.
* Nothing new on the money side, it's going to be a loooooooooooooooong month!0 -
Hi just stopping in to say hi. Have just caught up with your thread. You have done so well to date, keep up the good work. I was so not as organised when I was pg last year, going back to work in Feb gave me the kick I needed to get things sorted though.
Hope you manage to get your assignments done. Its such hard work studying when your working so any extra time is useful.0 -
Hi all, I have manged to get an online statement for my mortgage account via being interested in a review. Was feeling optimistic that the overpayments were helping but have just noticed something that might be problem in the future.
Currently the account stands at:
Mortgage £101,118.26 monthly payment £688.57
Unsecured Loan £11,093.68 monthly payment £76.91
Secured Loan £6,695.48 monthly payment £47.40
Total outstanding £118,907.42
Our fixed rate ends next July and at their current standard variable rate we would be paying:
Mortgage £760.40 pm
Unsecured £83.50pm
Secured £50.90pm
Total monthly payment of £894.80
Now we were going to remortgage at the end of the fixed deal but have just noticed that the Help with costs tie-in offer doesn't expire until March 2010, and if we remortgage this would cost us £1000!
So do we throw everything we have at the secured loan to reduce this and the wait until 2010 to remortgage therefore paying 9 months at a variable rate.
Or remortgage as planned in July but save up for the £1000 fee, would be really disheartening but we started out with a 100% mortgage so maybe we could look at it as a deposit we should have put down in the first place.
It's hard to figure out what's best and obviously no one knows what the financial situation is going to be yet.
A little bit annoyed with myself for not planning properly and getting better advice about mortgages!

HI all, I've been thinking about what I wrote about the £1000 fee if we remortgaged next July and think it might be better to save up the extra money to pay for the variable rate for 9 months. That way we can still overpay and then amount would be reducing whereas if we paid the £1000 back then there wouldn't be a reduction to the balance so no progress after a year!
So new tactics:
* Save £1000 for variable rate next year
* Then continue to overpay as usual

Hi all,
Only 3 more assignments to go (by Wednesday ), have to settled down tomorrow to do one but having to take lots of breaks as back has started hurting.
R.e. finances - cheque for £20.55 cleared from survey site so added to savings pot for next year, I'm not sure whether to add the £35 that I would pay extra each month into the savings account or carry on paying on to secured loan as i hate not overpaying.
Mmmmm decisions decisions!0 -
HI, I hope everyone is having a good weekend, dh is out picking up niece from Uttoxeter which is half way between her house and ours so they'll be another couple of hours. dd is really excited as she loves her cousin. We've got a nice week planned for the 2 of them assuming the weather holds out.
Once again I have changed my mind about mortgage savings, if I put everything I can into the savings account for next year then at least the lump sum will grow quicker and can be earning interest. Then I will overpay on the secured loan again. I know I change as often as my socks!
So cheque coming in from a survey site and £35 to put in when I get paid on the 28th. I have some furniture to sell on ebay as brother gave us a new t.v and cabinet as a belated Xmas prezzie. Hopefully we'll make a little bit from them.
Still have 3 assignments to write, going to start one in a minute after I've hung the washing out. Get organised Ev!0 -
Hi all,
Long time no update, have had nightmare 2 weeks.
* Managed to finish all my assignments and hand in portfolio, just waiting to see if I get any referrals or can graduate in July.
* Had no phone line for 2 weeks then broadband was disconnected, have just managed to get on using work computer but hubbie will need to sort out my computer to find out whats going on there. All passwords etc saved on that one
Anyway thats done, I'm just working through my last few candidates and marking then will be finished work at the end of June am really glad as getting tired now and back hurting.
R.e. mortgage - had a big falling out with dh about the mortgage payments, he said that he was not willing to pay £900 a month for a 3 bed semi and that it would be better to rent, I reminded him that most of the figure was for the loans attached to the mortgage and thats why I was bringing it down.
He's not happy but think he's bored in his job, worried about the baby and just life in general rather than it all being about the mortgage.
Have saved £32.75 towards the £1000 for next year, need to catch up on some surveys and will put some extra in hopefully this month.
Good to be back, fingers crossed we're not disconnected again!
