Hi shazzany, I'm due on 11th August but am counting down the days until I finish work at the end of June! I'm nervous about labour again but the way I look at it it's (hopefully) a day of pain and discomfort *cough cough* then it's all over! But then I was fairly lucky with my first only 24 hour labour although contractions didn't start for a while!

Is there anything you reduce in your outgoings for when you're off, I suppose you've taken into account any child benefit and tax credits you would be entitled to?

    Best wishes Ev x

Hi there, only just found your thread, but it's really interesting! I think you're very brave to overpay when pregnant: I'm expecting my second one a week after yours is due (17/8/8) but don't feel I can overpay for a good long while (will be a MFWannabe for AGES!). We are saving up for kitchen extension to accommodate bigger family, so if anything, our costs are going up, not down. :o( Will keep reading your diary though, so maybe I will change my mind and be as courageous as you. :o)

Thanks No7 - luckily there is nothing major needed to be done in the house so would rather overpay then save up for anything, although we are also putting aside savings from dh second job for as an extra cushion should anything major happen.

We have been really lucky as we have had tons of hand-me-downs for dd and have managed to get quite a few boys clothes through freecycle. The survey sites allow be to get Boots vouchers so that pays for nappies and toileteries, and the surveys that pay in cash goes on the mortgage.

We are going to be MFWs' for ages too but it's really important for us at the moment as next year when we remortgage it might be difficult to get a good deal, so every extra we can pay now will help us then!

Congrats on your pregnancy - I can't believe how quickly the time is going though, only a few weeks until I finish work!

I was in a good mood today as I'm on annual leave for two weeks, but that has been spoilt by just finding out that £850 has gone missing between my bank and mortgage company!

Payment went by standing order on 28th March from my bank but mortgage company haven't received it and sent me an arrears letter - neither has any idea where it is and now could take 2 weeks before any result

I'm just going to pay by card now as I don't want this to happen this month as well and A&L will be receive a letter if I get any charges!

    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    Hi,

no word from the bank as to whether they have sorted out my missing payment, will leave it until next Friday then give them a ring.

I will pay this months installment by card on Monday so hopefully no more problems.

A few more pennies due to arrive:

    £31.69 from Quidco
Still waiting for the cheque from a survey site
Mystery shop payment still to come in

That's it for now, Ev x

Mortgage paid by card today, so that included the regular over payment of £35.52, they still haven't received last months payment so technically a little behind.

A&L better find the missing payment else I'll not be a happy bunny!

This month is going to be tight as spent quite a lot last week when friend was visiting, never mind beans on toast looks good this week!

So not much else going on - dh second job giving him hassles, he has to set up some tables for different community groups and they keep changing them then moaning about him. Awkward so and sos'!

Spoke to a lady at work about my maternity leave and found out that I will still get a decent amount each month while I'm off so hopefully won't be too brasic, just need to sort out stopping childcare vouchers until January and updating tax credits.

Have just seen that I received £39 for mystery shops but need to hang on to the cash until dh gets paid on 15th then send a cheque as cashflow needs boosting. Hopefully by then I will have also got survey payment in the post.
  • Really enjoying reading your thread. It just shows how all those little bits can make a difference. I have been doing surveys and quidco etc since february, and it's good to see all those little bits starting to add up.
I'm overpaying my mortgage for the first time this month and it is such a great feeling, I never even thought of it before coming to this site. :money:
