I've just updated my standing order for my mortgage and increased the payment slightly so there's definitely a little overpayment.

Monthly payment is £814.48 so I've upped it to £850 - overpaying by £35.52 which according to the previous calculation will save me £106.56 each month. This will just be spread out on the mortgage and I will continue to overpay on the secured part as normal.

£30 arrived today so will send off cheque later I might ring the mortgage company and see if they'll take a payment over the phone as would save a stamp!

Also need to send mobile phone bill to get cash back of £35 so will add this when I get the money.

£35 received today from mobile phone company so have sent a cheque to mortagage comp already today, brings my total up to £233.51 so far this year!

I would like to pay more but it's convincing my dh that more overpayment would really make a dent in the balance.

    Hi all

Not much to report at present but end of month should hopefully bring some more for overpayments.

We find out whether we're having a boy or girl on Thursday so this will help with preparations. If it's a girl then we have plenty of clothes and picked some more up from Freecycle on Thurs. If its a boy then some selling on ebay needed and a trip to charity shops for some bits and pieces!

I told my hubbie how much we had overpayed this year and I he was impressed especially as it all came from extra pennies. He has also been a superstar and got a second little job which will bring in £200 a month for about 3 hours work a week! He is going to buy himself some camping and walking gear first, which he has wanted for ages, then he will give the money to me. Rather than paying this off the mortgage though will really need to boost our savings so this will go straight into the ISA.

Everything going well at the mo, Ev x

Thank you LM, we hope we can pay off the mortgage in about half the term (currently 24 years!) so I get a bit obsessed at times, obviously will be tight when I'm on maternity leave but benefits will be reduction in fuel every week as can walk everywhere in our small town and will need to lose a bit of weight anyway!

End of month looming - mortgage payment goes out on Friday and this will include the planned over payment of £35.52. Quidco due to pay out a little but nothing else to come in at the moment, some survey sites teasingly (I think that's a word!) close to withdrawal.

Scan tomorrow, very exciting and I can carry on sorting out the nursery and finally start calling the little doot by its name. (Doot is what my m-i-l calls the kids - I think she meant dot at first but now doot has stuck).
