Hi craigywv,
No I've never cooked the chicken beforehand. This thread has lots of advice that should help:

I do my own but have never used packet dip. I cut up the raw chicken, toss lightly in flour, dip in beaten egg and then coat in golden breadcrumbs. They go in the frier at medium heat until golden brown and crispy. I think the same would apply with your dip but as it is wet, you would not need the egg mix. Hope this helps.0

I do pretty much as Alex21 advises - only difference is a slop over olive oil and oven-bake them (or occasionally shallow fry). Home-made dried breadcrumbs, whizzed until pretty fine work fine too. Can use fresh breadcrumbs at a pinch, but they do 'shed' more if you cook in a frying pan. If you happen to have some buttermilk or plain yoghurt lying about, you can marinate the chicken first to tenderize - just dry well before you do the dipping. I do this when I use thigh meat rather than breast. If you make loads, you can cook some until cooked but not brown and they'll freeze really well for a future use.0
