It really helps that DD1 drags me out and the weather has been a huge help. Maybe go out for a fast trot/walk and see how you go? I find it clears my head and gets my brain working again x

I do walk fast - with DH, but only ever ran for sport and sport training, I have never found pleasure in just running. Even when playing ultra competitive team sport I ran 3-5 miles max for stamina with short shuttle runs of 25m for the nature of the sport. With knackered knees, ankles and back, it is not the best exercise for me. I remain super bendy (always have been) and have to safeguard against reverse flexing of joints but my muscles could be stronger and certainly my core needs work. I used to swim a few kilos but cannot currently. A new pool complex is being built near us and we will join when we are able. In the meantime, digging (the garden) for strength and yoga for stretch and flex with the walking are my regular things. Currently stand for 6-8 hours a day - that all sounds very defensive (sorry). I am not fit enough compared to my regular exercise levels of 5-6 days a week but not unduly concerned at this point.
Back to you though, 47% spend is just awesomeSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £10,020.92 out of £6000 after September
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £2234.63/£3000 or 74.49% of my annual spend so far (not going to be much of a Christmas at this rate as no spare after 9 months!

Hi SL, am feeling it today. Went out when very warm and after a long walk. Hill running was the worst bit. Mixing it up with yoga is making a difference tho, less muscle strain. It’s one of the silver linings from this whole lockdown. Taking exercise seriously and stopping with my excuses. Kids out with OH right now on their bikes and I am just recovering in bed reading the paper!!Thanks jwil, hope the weather is as good for you as it is here xx2

Ooh...swimming. What I wouldn’t give SL for a swim in a lake or outdoor pool right now...or the sea. Anywhere!! That may have to be on my bucket list for when this darn lockdown is over...

Having a quick coffee break. Sun is shining and I am stuck inside slaving over a hot PC - although have to say its not frontline work like MFD and SA so am NOT complaining!
Ooooh...2 marathons, thats a great way of putting it. Had a rest day yesterday, my joints are slightly protesting and I have pulled an intercostal in my back but will be out again today over lunchtime. Glad you went out PF, its a good way to settle one's thinking and remember that 'this too shall pass'....
In good news despite some spends (yes OH and some significant beer deliveries (supporting local businesses he says:)), new sports bras(used MOV), birthday presents for DD1, upped our charitable donations, van storage and insurance, lots of tuition, sky high grocery bill etc etc we have had our best month since the crack down started in earnest in October last. WOOHOOOOOOO!! OH really really pleased. So am I. So we are on the cusp of another CC reaching an end next month, then its one small one which should be gone in May/June and then its 'just' the large one. Its all doable, all at 0% and even despite this we are still putting some savings aside into an ISA (EF is non existent though so we do need to sort that, note to self). If this continues we could be completely out of debt by October..more likely it'll be a month or two after. Currently we are on a spend of 47% of income which feels pretty darn good and leaves plenty for savings and debt repayment. OK we are fortunate to be well paid but even so I am taking a lot of heart from our commitment to our being truthful and accountable about our spends and to our leaning in to the issues..
Have a great day all

Well done on all the running, yoga and debt busting. You are one determined lady 😁 Although I'm running, doing Joe's PE and Insanity, I really miss my walks to and from work which clocked up 10k a day before I'd added the gym classes. Oh well, I can only do my best and I'll be back to the walking at some stage. I've definitely been spending more on groceries, it's been a case of buying what I can get rather than what I'd like and there's no shopping around at the moment. Impressed with your positivity and motivation to make the best of a difficult time.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Hi everyone
Just popping by to update my signature. There was a last minute flurry of spends in April - typical of us deferring gratification rather than eliminating it?! But still a savings rate of 38% which I am happy about. Here's to May being nearer 50%, although an accountancy fee and accommodation payment for next year may put paid to that!
Hope everyone is well
