You got to think though your £10k is for 3 not like I imagine the £4k being for 1. Howabout dividing your costs by 2.5 and comparing?

Aww thanks Wendy :) but I am gobsmacked to report that some people are doing it for whole families just like us. (When you've got kids it's £4k + your child benefit but that was still about 4.5k too little for us!)

I'm determined to do better, but I don't know what else to cut back on at this point.

My debt repayments seems to have hit a plateau as well. We didn't pay off as much as we'd hoped in December because it was Christmas and we also had to buy a new car which promptly needed £275 spent on it just days after we'd bought it.

Looking on the bright side at least we were able to pay for all that without putting any of it on credit - but it seriously reduced the amount of money available for debt repayment so the totals didn't go down by anything like the amount I'm used to and I found that a bit demoralising. :o:(

Plus due to basic rate tax and NI on my second and third jobs, working day and night for most of December didn't net me quite as much money as I'd hoped either - but it all helps I s'pose.

I really need to get out of these doldrums and get my kick@r$e head back on! :D

Welcome newbies! Tell us a bt about you if you can. Remember pepys that this is the long haul. That means that there will be day & months that we dont do as well as we would like, for whatever reason, and its about supporting each other through the highs & lows of long term debt repayment. In the dark days I try & stay positive & cast my mind to what I was like before and look forward to what like will be like debt free. Cant imagine how amaing it will be to have almost a grand a month just for me rather than the CC & loan cos! On my list of to do's then is a trip to new york for mum & I, all paid for with savings & a boob job!
Big hugs for you jacks! The challenge is alot (or not!) to live off & some things will !!!! the plan up but you can only do your best! You do need to look after yourself too though my lovely! Just think how much extra you'll have because of the work over Christmas olus you sort of enjoyed it didnt you :) Wendy we all get impatent! I currently have the dilemma between extra payments of CC or have the cats jabs done & car desperately needs a service! Think I'll do cats this month & car next!! Hugs all! We can do it - just gonna take a while!

• Hi everyone

Nice to see you all. Our household is fine, apart from me having a sprained wrist, hence not posting much.

Pay day today and I got out my grocery money and put it in sep envelopes. Let's hope that works!! I seem to have a blind spot. I make lists and then other things fall in my trolley.

Anyway, daily clicks to do then I shall watch one of the million dog whisperer episodes I've taped.

Take care all,

1 step xx

Still not much to report here either. Pay day seems a long way away (16 days) but hopefully still on target to pay off my Comet Card at the end of the month (approx 400.00 and 29.9% apr) I love clearing a debt especially the high interest ones!

Keep on going everyone. We are all one day closer to debt freedom now! x

• Hi everyone, I haven't been around for couple of days.. managed to earn about £15 overtime on Monday plus will be working all this weekend for overtime. Just hope the old ticker doesn't give out from working so hard before this debt clears.

I get impatient too and just want the whole lot gone. I can't imagine how wonderful it must be not to look at the snowball and send off payments, to have the £400 debt repayment money all to myself each month.

I currently have £1100 in savings and my overdraft is -£890. I am seriously thinking of taking the plunge and using savings to pay off overdraft. It seems a really scary thing to do.. my head says that I don't really have savings when have an overdraft.. but my heart says it nice to have a nestegg.

Payday a week tomorrow, had a couple of blips this month.. mainly due to a friend suddenly announcing they are getting married in 4 weeks so I have had to fork out for a present and hen night unexpectantly which stuffed the budget .
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time

Hi Everyone.Just thought i would tell you a bit about me now I have been given a number. I have been lurking on this site for a few months and after xmas decided to take the plunge.I added up all debts and they came to ALOT.I thought we would be in debt forever with no way out but after doing a Snowball I was delighted to realise we could be debt free (Apart from the mortgage) by Feb.2012. This seems a long way off but at least its not forever. The next bit was the hardest.....I CUT UP ALL OUR CREDIT CARDS..god that was scary but I feel so proud now its done.I have been spending loads of time on here picking up money saving tips and am now doing e bay and shopping lists etc.Every bit helps. Thanks to everyone on here ,I will let you now how I am doing.Good luck to everone for a debt free one day.

• Hi guys and welcome new members

Couldnt get online last night and this site must be addictive as I was on the phone to talktalk first thing this morning! Had a 2 hour bout on insomnia and still couldnt get online was really not a happy bunny!!

Mollypolly well done on cutting up the cards

Jacksxxx I cant believe families could live off £4K a year! I'll have to take a look. The main thing is we all set our own targets. Not putting any of xmas onto credit in excellent. I didnt for the first time in ages except I had to cash in a sharesave scheme that was costing me too much in a month anyway plus share prices are rubbish at the mo.

Squirrel as I said on the other thread I know what you mean about the "security" of having those savings but I guess if you do pay the OD off but keep it without using it then you will still have an emergency fund that will only cost if used.

Hi All,

Just popping in to say hi! Nothing major to report on my end, ploding along with debt and I also would love to be able to pay it all off now!!! I'm stressing and really don't understand why as DMP is going well thus far, but a little 'devil' on my shoulder keeps harping about 'this is too good to be true' in other words, my world could come tumbleing down.

So to be gloomy, but not really feel great. Hope all others are good.

Love

Hi All,

Well I seem to be having quite a productive Jan. Not really paid any massive amounts off yet but have managed to get DH a 0% Mint card so we can move the remaining NatWest amount and most of the Halifax. :j I also have a loan payment 'holiday' at the end of the month so I can put that to good use on the halifax cc.

On the flip side I completely forgot about another loan we have  so have now added it to my signature (and depressed myself a little:o)

Anyway, here's to a positive 2008...long may it continue
