Welcome!! Only 2 more to 100!! Newbies, why not tell us a bit about yourselves if you feel happy to!
Pay day for me tomorrow so this weekend will be sorting stuff! Hope people are all OK and not too depressed with all the Jan CC statements coming through! I can honestly sat that the grocery challenge & paying cash really makes me think about what I put in my basket & as one of my biggest !spends!" in the month that really helps give me more to pay off the debt!! Also having my savings piggy (sealed pot challenge!) encourages me to save rather than spend!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Hi,
About me? I have loads of debt to pay off. Looking at my current cccs statement. Now saying I owe approx £38,500 (which doesn't take into account the new balances from charges incurred when i made the token payments, or the additonal £2,500 where Northern Rock have kept the interest added to the total). All in all, I reckon my current amount to pay is approx £41,300.
I'm currently paying £355 a month and haven't investigated ways of maximising money yet. Just enjoying the lack of pressure to meet my payments that I was feeling when I was paying over £800 a month.
So actually, I might be done paying by 2018. I'm trying not to think about it really, just keep paying till I'm done. I suppose if I was dedicated like some of the people whose signatures I have read, I could clear it quicker. Right now though, I am kind of planning to take a holiday with the first lot of surplus I manage to save. As the years knock on, I might feel more inspired to get through the balance quicker.
Really really just enjoying being able to breath.
Actually, I do have one ongoing dribble of additional money, selling books on Amazon. I just can't get to grips with Ebay. I'm also being really good at minimising my Leccy and Gas bills. My next challenge is to stay on top of the paperwor, and get copies of correspondence to CCCS so it doesn't all go pear shaped.
Hello :-)Long Hauler 970 -
I won on the free bingo last night... £30.95. So far this month I have won £130 :j. I am going out for a meal with friends tonight - a quiet hen night so don't feel half as guilty now.
I have applied for a Citibank card with 5.8% LOB rate, it didn't approve me online straightaway but I will wait 7 days for written response, that always worries me but it has happened before and I ended up getting approved so fingers crossed. I want to transfer my Cahoot 16.9% card with its £1900 balance to it. It will knock 1 month off my DFD.
I don't trust Cahoot after they kept increasing my flexible loan to loan shark rates, luckily I managed to away from them.
Hope everyone else ok.Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0 -
I have had some great news this evening. Last summer my dad very kindly offered to pay off my flexible loan which was crippling me with the interest rate rises. I am paying him back interest free and was due to finish in Apr 2011. He has said I can finish paying at the end of 2009 and he will write off the rest which will be about £2800:j:j.
If I can really crack away at my credit card debt it means I will be debt free in 24 months instead of 39!!
I know that I am so lucky to have this opportunity thanks to my dad. Only my sister knows the true extent of my debt and it is so hard sometimes to explain to my parents why I have to grab every opportunity to earn overtime but never seem to have anything to show for working myself into the ground. My dad is really good with money and I only felt able to confess to the flexible loan but that is only a third of the real problem.
I don't know how to repay my dad for his kindness. Maybe just seeing his daughter with some energy and zest for life again will be good enough!Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0 -
I'm sure it will Squirrel. He will just be pleased to be able to help out. Great news though and what a boost to keep you going.
I am desperate for payday so I can reduce the amounts a bit more. I feel as if I have achieved nothing since last payday although I am managing to stick to my budgets etc which I suppose is a result in itself. I have just had so much expense recently it is unbelievable. I am quite pleased though that I have not added any to my debt total. Just annoys me to think though that if I hadn't had to pay out all the money I have I could have paid hundreds more off. Oh well maybe next month asit will be much shorter. Hope everyone is well x5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Aw congratulations! That is brilliant!
I am seriously considering getting a second part time job just to see those debts go down a wee bit faster. I was thinking about care work and have looked on line - there are some available in my area. What do you all think?
1 stepIf you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
I'm not short - I'm condensed awesome!0 -
I would do it if it won't make you too tired and affect family life. I have a second job and also do overtime for my main job Sometimes I do get run down but it not as bad as the stress of worrying about debt. I have met some lovely people doing my other job and it has increased my social circle too. Care work is very worthwhile, not the best pay but if it not main income that is not a problem. It's amazing how the odd £100 thrown at the snowball makes such a difference on interest and DFD! Give it a go, you can always jack it in if too much. xxSecond and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0
