    Hi

I think i may be here for some time yet..:o

We have been just treading water for the last few years without making any real effort to do anything and we are both now fed up with the situation.

I think joining this thread may give me some motivation to carry on and keep paying, we are cutting the food budget which was creeping out of control lately and have managed to all but pay for xmas with only about £200 going on a cc which is a major achievement for us.:T

We have more spare than we thought so hoping to clear a chunk this year if we can, even if its only a few pence we must get in the habit of paying on a debt as every little helps so they say :rotfl:

    Thanks

Welcome! Youre in the right place :)
Ally sorry to hear about dca but assume its one of the debts payplan know about? Always amazes me how much money they are prepared to waste chasing people who have already proven that they dont have the money...nasty people///

Happy new year everyone, wishing you lots of successful debtbusting!

Feeling a bit low as one of my debts is due to be passed to a DCA for the first time. I know its normal but it still feels likea low point. Still, I shall pass the correspondence to Payplan and trust that they'll advise me of anything I need to do.
ISOM - I hope you reach your target surgery so you can move on.
    MIT - loving the positivity!
Eira- You've been having a rough time haven't you? I hope 2012 brings you good health and happiness.

Good luck everyone forthe coming year and beyond.

Hi Allypops. I have just found out that Barclaycard (bought me off
Egg but I bet they wish they hadn't:rotfl:) are passing me on the their in house DCAS named Mercer. I am waiting for confirmation from Merceer and then I shall contact Payplan. I have read that they are not very nice:(. Still, I shall remain positive and remind myself, as must you, that long term DMPers see DCAs as a positive move in the long run. We must remain strong and resolute:beer:

    Thanks ISOM and Standing Tall.

Payplan know about ALL of my debts (and there is a lot to know)!

Still, I should end this year around 20k down on the original debt. I think it will then feel a bit more doable. At the moment, because I am still near the beginning of the journey to being debt free and I owe so much, each payment feels like a very small drop in a very big ocean!

Hi backpacker and welcome, the more the merrier:j.. Hopefully my debt will clear for retirement too because if not I shall have to keep on working, probably until I am 90:eek:

A good way to start is to read through the advice within this forum, on the thousands of threads, also on the diaries subforum. You could also complete a Statement of Affairs (SOA) for which there is a link in the stickies at the top of the forum. This is a useful exercise for your own information but also you could post it on a seperate new thread and people could give you advice.

Well done on joining. Someone will give you a number if decide you want one:T

  • Welcome backpaker 21! Lots of ideas on here and throughout the site but feel free to ask ?
Well updated my numbers in my little note book and pleased that its almost at 1000! Not bad for 2nd Jan!
Feeling very motivated and am using a do I want this more than having my stomach stapled approach. That may sound a bit odd but I need to raise 10,000 and at the moment its not doable with cc's so high but will mean that, unless I can get the op on NHS, I will be straight back into debt but will save myself a bomb on food if nothing else and would love to get to a size where I could buy clothes in a charity shop! Most of all will be healthier and happier - both of which are priceless...

  • Wow. We long haulers are all very quiet. I guess we are all thinking how many new years will pass before we are debt free:eek:

I am lucky in that I only have 11 (monthly) instalments left to pay making my last payment date being 02/12/12, which means I wont have any extra money for Xmas but I will for the New Year.

I have a shortfall of approx £109, but I have approached the Bank of Dad to lend it to me, so I can finish on 02/12/12.

Then I have to worry about how much interest HBOS want of me, but I may make a F&F offer to them before that date (or pay it off on an instalment arrangement).

Has it been easy for me since I started mine in Dec 2005 ? No, but I have stuck at it, never missed a payment and have increased my payments each year (if only sometimes by £5/month).

I am not bothered about getting a mortgage or having cards again so my credit history means nothing to me.

So for me the future is good, for everyone else remember that the hardest thing to do is to admit to a debt problem - once you have done and you start your DMP then your on your way to debt freedom.
  • hopefully only another 1 for me :D
