Well its been a week of thought in ISOM land...have made a difficult decision to have my stomach stapled which is going to cost and arm, leg and torso! It means that I will be in debt longer but to me will be worth it as my quality of life is affected so much by my weight that its time to take control, having tried all else I can think of...needless to say wont be moving any time soon but not necc a bad thing!

Good for you. Good luck with the op x
  • Good for you ISOM. I reckon in your life that would be 'good' debt as you feel you need it so much. When will you get it done?

Hello, just found this thread, we reckon with current repayments we will clear the debts and mortgages in 2037!!!!
Hoping we can smash that to a more sensible timeframe and do things like save into a pension to boot but it is a Long long long long term plan.

Short story , I married a debtor but also I had to take a 30 year mortgage term nearly 6 years ago when I bought my first home. So his confession moment was a bit of a shocker as possibly his income will drop by 30% .... Better to know now while we have a chance to take preventative action to sort however it was a bit of a rude awakening to 2012

So I know this thread has been going for a while but could I join please?

Welcome! The more the merrier. I don't count my mortgage in my debts as a mortgage is counted by Martin as "good" debt, as long as you are paying it of course :rotfl:

Thanks, that is most of the problem, one mortgage is interest only and no repayment vehicle!!!

Eek. Although I suppose that once you've cleared the other debt you can start to pay off the mortgage. I presume you have done a SOA and started clearing the rest of the debt? (Sorry, didn't look at your previous posts to see if you were new to the site or just this thread. :o)

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning everyone
Long time no post "Long Hauler 110" Sparky0107 reporting in. As of the 20th January 2012 I am "officially debt free". Managed to clear all of our debt thanks to a lot of overtime and some cutting back, without hurting too much. I have booked a week in New York (paid cash), plus I have booked a table et the champagne bar in Times Square to tell my DW that we no longer have any debts (She doesn't know yet!).

So glad I stumbled across this site back in 2007, without everyone's help, support & knowledge I wouldn't have been able to do it, so a great big "THANK YOU" to one & all
