The overtime couldn't have come at a better time, in the last 6 months I've paid off £9492.02 to credit cards and the satisfaction of writing letters to them asking for the accounts to be closed is great. We fly to NY on the 23rd of this month and I can't wait to see the look on my DW's face.Sparky0107 - Sealed pot challenge member #002. Well done thats amazing and new York is amazing too, did your wife know anything about your finances? Or are you saying you will tell how you dealt with it? Roll on when I can post that :-) the most satisfying part will be paying outright for things no credit on my turf :-) xI AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. Thank you also HTGDF
We have been to New York before and can't wait to get back there. My wife is a bit of a bury your head in the sand type, if she doesn't know about it then it's not there, so I took over the finances in the relationship and we both get pocket money every week. So my plan is to take all the print outs of the snowball debt calculator and show her them, over a glass of champagne overlooking Times Square.
The best thing is getting paid and not having to work out who's getting what this week/month.
Hopefully you're DFD will be soon and you can take great pleasure in posting on here and announcing it to everyone.Sparky0107 - Sealed pot challenge member #002. Total for SPC3 £1,030.57 Total For SPC 4 £2247.00 Total for SPC 5 £2574.62 :T Total for SPC 6 £4552.91:T

sparky Well done. You are an inspiration. I can't wait until the day all our debts have gone.
We both asked for our expected pension and today worked out that when we retire we will be better off than we are now, if we manage to pay everything off by then!

Long time no post "Long Hauler 110" Sparky0107 reporting in. As of the 20th January 2012 I am "officially debt free". Managed to clear all of our debt thanks to a lot of overtime and some cutting back, without hurting too much. I have booked a week in New York (paid cash), plus I have booked a table et the champagne bar in Times Square to tell my DW that we no longer have any debts (She doesn't know yet!).
So glad I stumbled across this site back in 2007, without everyone's help, support & knowledge I wouldn't have been able to do it, so a great big "THANK YOU" to one & allDebt free as of 29.10.2020 🎉😁

Hey all... Am new to the thread but would love to join. My debt free schedule takes me up to 2017 when I will be 45. Some days I feel really inspired and that I am making progress... Then I see or hear about people much younger who have nearly cleared their mortgages and I am still renting and haven't even got on the housing ladder... It's then I feel like I will never catch up and get into the whole 'what's the point' mode of thinking...
I know there will always be people who are financially better and worse off than I am... and comparing doesn't necessarily help... I mean - I suppose none of us can take any of it with us, right? I sort of believe in Karma I guess (though am not especially religious) and feel that as I borrowed that money and got myself into debt... it is only right I clear that slate...
But how does everyone keep motivated on their own little corner without feeling financially inadequate??? All suggestions much appreciated!!!
I just want to add I am *really* happy for those people who are becoming debt free and who have made a success of their lives... and seeing threads from guys like sparky make me believe that I can make this happen... I mean it was only 5 years ago that you were in a similar place to me... and now you're off to New York!!! That's going to be me one day... (minus your wife of course!!!)...⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐
