Welcome Robert and Mrs Robert
we've got about 30 odd months according to the calculator too although thats going to be extended I think as our payments will have to reduce (we pay off more than mins a month) as I am on maternity leave and oh just lost his job.
Hello parsnip glad your finding inspiration sometimes thats the only thing that keeps us going.
well done to all debt free one day all our time will come!
Heres to a prosperous 2011 with high %'s paid off for all.I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Well I am long hauler 21 as I just checked. Need to put it in my sig. I have over 50 months on my snowball unfortunately but when my car loan is finished I can reduce that a bit hopefully and 1 of my loans will finish during that time too so I can reduce it again. I want to be debt free by 50 so I have 4 and a half years to do it in. THen I want to be mortgage free by 55. Originally my mortgage would have been paid off last year but due to divorcing etc I still have a long time to go with this
. Never mind carp happens and we deal with it best we can.
I wonder how many of the original long haulers are still about and how many have actually made progress since this thread started.
My credit card debt has stayed quite static ( but going to sort it out this year) but everything else has reduced so overall I have definitely made progress. All going in the right direction

Happy New Year Everyone!!!
We have had a review with CCCS which has put our payments up by £13 per month but has knocked off 6 months from our debt free day! This has really made my day and I feel so much more determined:)Debt Free 1st March 2017

Happy New Year everyone!!!
Haven't been on this thread for a while but have just caught up with all the posts. Hope everyone had a good xmas, and didn't suffer too many hits to the bank balance. We survived pretty well here!
Well, i have started 2011 in a very pro-active MSE way. I plonked my son in front of the tv (bad mummy!) and sat down to go through all our debts, budget and bills and i have worked out that with hubby's pay rise and some of our outgoings being reduced we can afford to double our CCCS payment. So from next month we will be paying £300 instead of the £150 we have been paying for a while. How fab is that?!!
And ............ i have worked out that we might be able to start trying for another baby soon!!
We battled with this decision for ages as i wanted to wait until our debts are paid off but we have decided that if we can pay £300 per month for the next year, that will bring our total amount owed down to about £7,500 which seems a much more managable amount and means that when i go on maternity leave we will manage with only paying a smaller amount to CCCS each month. Plus, life is too short! I am more more accepting of our debts these days too. I know we will get there one day, but i don't want to put my life on hold because of it.
In my little plan that i made today i figured out that even with 9 months maternity leave we can get to our Debt Free Date in 2015. (Am trying to ignore the fact that when we first started our DMP our DFD was 2011! But then, my beautiful son is worth every penny!)
Only one hurdle standing in my way. My job. There is a possibility that my temporary contract won't be renewed in March due to the Government cuts. I am sh!tting myself about it really as, if i lose my job the whole plan goes down the plughole. Trying to think positive though and keep smiling.
Wishing all the long haulers a happy, healthy and 'money saving' 2011. xI'm FINALLY debt free! DFW Long Hauler #227LBM - Jan 2006  March 2006 -£26,725  Apr 2015 - £0!!! :jBaby boy born 1/8/08 Baby girl born 28/6/120 -
Hi Babyplum
Fingers crossed the contract gets renewed. Great news on the CCCS repayments and the possibility of a new baby at some point. Other than being completely daft if everyone watied to be able to properly afford a baby the birth rate would be almost nil!:j0 -
Time I checked back in as a long hauler
I've been considering a repayment plan for the last few months for my CCs and have finally plucked up the courage to do a snowball calculator that shows it will take a massive 52mths to pay off and a DFD of May 2015. Still better to take control than what I usually do which is bury my head in the sand about it.
Most other areas are under control more or less. No spending on the CCs just increasing interest amount totals
Anyway no store cards now, no CC buying, got everything else under control, cooking from scratch. 2011 time to pay off some debts. Can't wait until can pay one off and feel the joy at making progress of finally getting closer and closer to the debt free life I wantfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
