Fingers crossed the contract gets renewed. Great news on the CCCS repayments and the possibility of a new baby at some point. Other than being completely daft if everyone watied to be able to properly afford a baby the birth rate would be almost nil!
Thank you! Yeah, you are right. It's just a shame that some members of my family don't feel the same way and think we are crazy (and possibly a bit irresponsible) for considering having another whilst still in debt.I'm FINALLY debt free! Hi. Happy New Year to everyone. I've been lurking, but not been on here for ages. Any spare time I have on the computer are spent on Ebay. It's so time-consuming, but at least it's making me money. I sold all my 80's Smash Hits and Record Mirror's last year and made over £600. This year I am going to be selling 10 years worth of Film Reviews, Empire and Premiere magazines.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW Member 1205!LBM Aug 2006 - Debt £35K. Debt: JAN 2020: £0!!

Happy new year everyone.
I have to say 2010 has been my most successful debt busting year to date. On top of my regualr payments, I raised £2000 on ebay and another £800 on PPI charges (which turned out to be ridiculously easy to reclaim, which I'm still somewhat stunned at!). AND, we went on holiday (only the lake district, but it was lovely!) for the first time in three years.
So, out with a good year and in with what will undoubtedly be a much a tougher year. We now have two children under 2. We are good financially until July, then OHs maternity pay stops and we are on our own - I'm that scared about it I am doing my ostrich impression. Last year my OH went back to work part time after the first lot of maternity pay stopped and so we have had a good run. This simply won't be an option this time round. So, that and higher fuel prices, interest rate rises at some point and all in all, 2011 may prove to be the hardest year to date, despite being at the lowest rate of debt I have had since 2006. Indeed this year I am hoping to drop below £35k of debt - still seems a lot, but it will be nearly half my LBM, which in 2007 I could have barely imagined.
So, the plan remains the same - kill the debts, one at time and DON'T STOP. I have £1000 saved so far and I need another £1000 to pay off my car loan. Then its £1300 to pay off one credit card and £2400 to pay off another. IF i can manage that by the end of 2011 I will have freed up £200 a month.
Sorry for going on, sometimes its good just to write down the plans in black and white for motivation. It seems to work....I need to get back to ebay after this!
As ISOM very rightly said, we can do it - it may not be pretty and it may not be quick but together we can get through this. Then, finally, one day we can be the ones posting saying we are debt free. You have all proven to be very good friends and very supportive over the last two years - I hope I have been the same and long may it continue.
Oh, and I keep saying it, but I will say it again - YOU CAN NEVER AFFORD KIDS!!! If you want them, have them.......you won't regret it!

There is never a good time to have a baby though is there? Besides they dont cost that much.
Who said you had to be debt free to be able to bring up a child properly? No matter how little cash you had available, it would always go to the children first regardless, would for me!

Well all. Last night I sat in my bath and worked out our targets for this year. We wont be able to pay off as much as we would like on account of oh's job gone, me being on maternity leave and having a new baby but I have worked out that we will be able to reduce the cc's by 25%, od only by 3.5%, and oh's loan by 71% and joint loan by 16% all in all we will have hopefully paid off £6171.86 by January 2012 which seems like a fairly good amount to me
well thats our target anyway hopefully (and im feeling optimistic) we will smash it!!!
Good luck to everyone else on their upcoming dfw yearI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

annibee. That's brilliant. I have a job and doubt I will manage anywhere near that. No doubt I will pay that out but the interest will eat up a lot of it. Good for you. You should be well chuffed. x5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Hello long Haulers - Happy new year, and the start of my 7th (and hopefully last!) year as a DFW.
The kitchen sink is getting thrown at this this year - being able to see the bottom of that egg loan is spurring me on!0
