  • Afternoon Long Haulers!

I feel sooo ill and have done for a few days BUT today I paid off my Vanquis credit card! I am very happy! Plus OH's mum's just bought him a car (a Renault Megane) and he's booked an intensive driving course & the tests needed and *should* be driving within 2 weeks!!!

I guess my/our motto is "I AM A GOOD FORTUNE MAGNET GOOD THINGS COME FREELY AND FREQUENTLY" :j

Hey Sunfleur - Sorry to read about the garage. Barclays can be a pain in the backside, I think all banks & building societies seem to be getting tougher. I'm putting in lots of complaints this week about DCAs, banks, credit cards etc.!! The ICO, FOS & OFT will have had enough of me soon! lol
Good luck with getting Barclays to refund, anyone with common sense can see you don't need it and they should really have stopped it previously!
Focus on your good news and I'm sure more will follow :)

Hi Jwil! Good to see you pop in, hope to see you again soon! And think positive, as you've said 4k is ok if you pay it off quicker.

Hello ISOM! I'd be tempted to sell off a lot of my crafting stuff as we need the space but I just can't bear to part with it! I may consider more seriously the idea of making toppers/embellishments etc to sell though. Am going to set some time aside in the next few days to do blogging/crafting/reading etc. as I've been meaning to for ages now!

How are you doing Happy? Still a busy bee?
I've got nothing else but I've got my family.

    hi Happy

I am planning my first big party ever :) OH usually gives me £100 for my birthday so gonna use that for a big party. Its all ladies :) my bellydance teacher has offered to do a free beginners workshop, I'm gonna do a few tables with simple cardmaking activities, gonna hire a sound system or hope function room already has one and burn some mix CDs to play, spend a few bob on a tesco buffet and ask people to bring food. I'm gonna enquire about room hire today :) I've heard working men's clubs rent out for free and you just pay for bar staff.
I'm gonna buy decorations cheap too - I might be able to make my own for cheap too.

ladder way to go on paying off the Vanquis card

    Hello everyone!

ISOM, I'm afraid I don't have a crafty bone in my body! I love the idea of it, but every time I try it, I am rubbish at it :( Hope you had a good time camping though!

Climbin, well done on paying off Vanquis! Good news about the car too!

Soma, good luck with the birthday party hunt, I'd love to try belly dancing, I've got enough belly anyway :rotfl:

Sunfleur, hope you get the banks all sorted out soon, they really are a nightmare!

Happy, well done on almost getting to the £10k mark, nearly there! What a boost that will be!

Sorry if I've missed anyone else, I'm trying to catch up!

    morning
its been quiet on here for a while. How is everyone with their debt busting? Hugo's wound is nicely healing bless him.

Found a party venue for £50 with a bar so hoping to spend £40 on food and £10 on decoration/crafty stuff. Any tips on stretching party food budget further? I'm thinking of going to Tesco for sausage rolls - maybe get frozen party food and bake it on the day. Frozen is usually cheaper.

Iceland? I haven't been in an Iceland shop for years but I went the other day and it had loads of things in for £1. The things I bought were mainly branded goods but I think some of their own brand stuff seems ok. I possibly wouldn't buy the family lasagne for £1 as I'm not sure I would actually find any meat in there LOL The party food looked acceptable.
