Morning all. Havent been on in a while! Interesting to note that so many of us are crafters! I used to do scrapbooking which is where a load of my debt came from! I flogged all my stuff to a mate last year. Now I just do knitting, crochet and sewing/patchwork and try really hard not to get too much suff although dont find it easy! am trying to keep to a project rule - I only buy for specific project and dont get more until next one. Usually works with occasional slips!
I start back to work on monday after a year away. Ive had a pay cut of 3000 but as manage to live more frugally its manageable. thankfully I do a fair ammount of babysitting so that helps.
Am off camping today for the night - expensive as had to get some bits but will do me from now on. I wont flog my stuff again - sometimes the flog it all now is a mistake i have learned...
Poorbabe re buying a house I wish I had rented! The stress of ownership when youre in debt isnt great because you have to pay for things to be fixed...I am looking to sell mine now! Can understand your worry. Could you move to a cheaper place where house prices more affordable? Would also help you pay debts as cost of living lower...just a thought!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Good morning long haulers.....
Feeling a bit bruised and battered this morning and slightly out of sinc. Got loads of cleaning, washing and baking to do today as an old friend is visiting for four days from tomorrow.
I think I have definitely been done by the garage we have been to for many years now. They say the wheel bearing 'went dodgy' because of the ball joints that also had to be changed. It's funny that it was affected when it's only been done (by them) since April this year and the other side wheel bearing wasn't somehow affected (both ball joints were replaced) that they again replaced last year. I have had to chase this up and they didn't come back to me at all. Not a happy bunny. I hate that we can't do our own car and we will be looking for a new garage. We may have to take DH's car there though as we don't know anyone else who could do the job on his as it is a major one - timing belt among others.
On a positive note .... uhhhmmm let me get back to you on that one!LBM: June 2010 DMP started: 1/8/2010

Hello everyone, just popping in for a flying visit, hope everyone is doing well! I'm not, GRRR my debt will be going up soon as I have a big BNPL catalogue bill on the horizon which I haven't managed to pay off as I thought I would have. It's going to add about 4k to the debt, but it shouldn't actually be that much as I will pay it off a lot quicker hopefully."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hi Peeps
I'm beyond tired at the moment as had early (forced) start at 5.00 am this morning - don't ask!
Cheeky Statement from Barclays yesterday - adding more debt in the form of Fraud Insurance.... DH had forgotten that it came up at this time of year and of course they added it to the Statement and sent it to us possibly too late to cancel as it was over the 14 day period.. Still cancelling it for next time and trying to claim it back for this time since it is irrelevant as our account is all but closed, no-one can possibly use it as we have destroyed the cards and they won't let anyone use it anyhow.. There was no mention of charges or interest on the statement though.....
Also had letter from A & L/Sandtander saying they will not add any more charges or interest.
Also Hellifix have sent us a bill for £41 for cancelling their home insurance (£33 for the usual payment plus £8) cheeky sods. We have to pay it within 14 days - now whether to tell them to take a number and get in line OR pay it on the last day....
Also Hellifix sent another letter for our OD on that account which looked like it should have gone to CCCS - we don't know if they were playing stupid and sending it to the wrong address or if it was meant to be a copy of the letter to CCCS but it didn't mention COPY anywhere on the letter and it had DHs name and addy in the address box! I rang and told CCCS about this as Hellifix were saying if they didn't hear from them in 7 days they would assume they (they never actually mentioned CCCS by name) were not working on our behalf any more so I don't know what their game is but we are not playing it. CCCS will now send the information to them AGAIN and attempt to pay them something.
So a bit of an up and down week so far. You get some good news then you get rubbish news - I suppose thems the breaks!
Looks like everyone here are having up and down weeks too - hang in there everyone - The Gangs All Here, The Gangs All Here... We all stand together.. Fightin talk!LBM: June 2010 DMP started: 1/8/2010

yup me too, overspending on craft stuff didn't help with debt.
Sunfleur hang in there. Hellifax is definitely a good name for them - once got way over £100 in charges from them in one month and no sympathy.
trying to be more productive and organise a cheap 30th birthday party for me. Might check out the celebrations board.0
