Happytogetdebtfree!!!!
How are you??!! It has been such long time - 8 months to be exact, can you beleive it?! ITs been a BIG adjustment having the new baby. She is wonderful though and sleeps right through the night now from 6pm to 7am - so i really can't complain. First four months were pretty tough. OH did such a good job - was much harder than either of us ever thought it would be, and we got there.
I can see from your signature that you are doing some serious debt busting. Your target of 20k by Xmas is fantastic and you are already tackling it really well. I'm trying to eBay my house just (clarify that - the contents of the house!) and doing a fairly decent job. Getting money for some of the most ridiculous things imaginable, so I'm very happy. Just want to get one card paid off by July. My wife's maternity pay runs out at the end of this month so I have to try and free up as much cash as possible to give her every month. We have decided its not worth her going back to work, we won't ebenfit an neither will Abigail, so I'm the breadwinner now - scary!
Everything is good - so far. Trying to stay positive, you know how it is. Hoping to have around £7000 paid off by Xmas, but anyhting i can get down against the debts is good.
Anyway, enough of my babble. How are you? Hope everythings been going well for you!Debt Sept 2007 (1st LBM) - £63,000 :embarasseStarted DMP July 2012 (2nd LBM) - £34,000DFD (currently) - 12 years!"Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get up."0 -

Hi everyone, just a quick 'hit and run' visit
Debt reduction continues with no hiccups at the moment. I've finally worked out a weekly allowance which I'm -kind of - sticking to (we won't mention the bike-related purchases:o).
I've also signed up to the £365 in 365 challenge but as I started on 1 March it will be slightly less. Taking the £1 a day from the weekly allowance as I don't actually need to carry much money around with me as I take lunch to work each day and all the ingredients come from my shopping allowance. Despite the b-r buys I'm glad to have come through the first week and am in a better frame of mind to continue for the rest of the month.
No council tax increase this year so that's a relief. Not yet had my rent increase notification but have allowed an extra £30 a month based on previous years' increases. The average has been £25 a month but if I allow £30 it might be enough to cover those odd months where there are 5 Mondays rather than 4 (rent due weekly on Mondays but I pay montly by SO).
Keep going forward everyone. It's the little successes that keep us motivated :T:jThe 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -

Currently waiting on washing machine to finish dying trousers I no longer wear to black so I can wear them to work. I'm getting into these frugal and thrifty waits. Also just dyed off-white blouse turquoise
.
I think this is mostly because I am procrastinating adding my wardrobe (massive cull just completed) to ebay

Congrats on getting married, but sorry to hear about your mum in law. Not exactly what you would have been needing after getting married. Hope you are better now. Good luck with your doggie too - hope he/she feels better soon. Thank god for pet insurance! Just need to get to July and cancel one card then I will be much happier. Don't really want to wish half the year away though!
Looks like I won't get too much of a council tax rise this year, which is great and I'm lucky on my mortgage, came off a three year fixed deal for the total cost to come plummeting down thanks to the low rate just now. Will be ok as long as it doesn't go up in the forseable.
Hope you will have a better year Happytogetdebtfree - got my fingers crossed for you. Hello to all other 'long termers' out there too - 'friad I don't know anyone anymore! Hi all!! Well had the car serviced & MOT'd last week & it came to £225,which isn't as bad as I thought it might be! Left us short though so had no choice but to transfer £150 from CC to bank account to cover DD's for this week! Did feel a little down about it but just got to grit our teeth & get on with it! Still hope to clear around £300 this month!!
