  • Hey all,
Been trying to catch up with what everyone has been up to. Glad most of the news is positive. Just a quick note as I'm supposed to be working...
Love to all, glad the numbers are decreasing, however slowly!

Got home from work then got in the shower. Letting the mind wander, as you do (or maybe it's just me) I started thinking about my finances. Despite my debts I'm saving for a birthday trip to New York in 2 year's time. Once again I wondered if I was doing the right thing seeing as I have the debts, then remembered that one will end in July next year which will give me an extra £251.77 per month to throw at the other debts, along with contributions from my sealed jar.

Suddenly I felt so much better. One of those 'ray of sunshine' moments. I'm still going to find some money to contribute to Comic Relief tomorrow evening too :j

    Small steps everyone

    Hey! How's every-one getting on?

I'm having a wobbly time at the minute... think there've been more "want" spends than "need" spends and my grocery budget is running away from me! I'm trying to combat this by writing up a meal plan and shopping list and thinking of ordering online through mysupermarket so I'm not distracted by things I don't need (like the creme egg ice cream I got today!)

And I'm ignoring updating my spending diary because it's scaring me!

  • Yup, fed up, but its the natural way of the DFW!!! haha.

Niccatw - update the diary!!! Really, I know its horrible and scary, but it makes you feel so much more empowered, even if its negative news. Plus, it will really motivate you to curb 'want' spends.

PoorBabe - you do need things to look forward to, plus its good practice to save for things so all is good!

Had a long week of work, deadlines today so must get on!
    Happy Friday everyone :-)
  • Happy friday rambles, off bed now xxx

poorbabe best to pay off as soon as you can me thinks! Just imagine the interest if you didnt! Still bimbling on here while I wait to see what happens with work so lots of min payments again - frustrating when theres money there that could pay one cc off in full but I need the emergency fund!

I have moments like those!! However, what I've learnt to do is not let it de-rail me completely and I only beat myself up about for a day or two rather than a week or so :D then get back on track which is what you are doing, which is great :T You need to stick with the spending diary though, scary as it is, you'll be able to look at and see how far you've come/improved.

I hear you ISOM and it's something I'm struggling to reconcile but that longterm saving is what is helping me stick to my debt reduction, as well as getting me used to longterm saving. Since I started that, I've put more money towards my debts and am doing the sealed jar and 365/365 saving challenges which will go to the debts at the years end, so I figure I'm doing ok for now.

My current situation is great training for my retirement as I don't envisage me having stacks of money to live on, but I'm determined to have a little fun with own money before that time. I'm still hopeful of winning a large stash on the Lottery, but in the meantime taking care of the pennies is working for me, 'wobblies' excepted :)
