Letter ammended, printed, signed and in the envelope ready to be posterd first thing :D. Eventually! Thanks again - I'll let you know how it goes.

And I eventually got my new pin through for internet banking, A&L have already credited my £100 switching incentive :j:j (I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't checked as it would just have been eaten up by bills :(). And I haven't had to transfer my wages as they wrote to payroll but payroll need to hear it from me. I might just leave it as it is and transfer the money needed to cover the bills and otherwise leave that account well alone. I wonder if my memory is good enough to do this as soon as my pay goes into its account!

They've given me the money now so I'll wait until they write to me if I need to sort it out. I'll need to transfer most of my wages manually to the account anyway to cover the direct debits, so I will be paying in the amount needed monthly, so it might be ok. I know it seems a faff to transfer my wages every month, but I think it might help me keep track better. That's the theory anyway! I'll let you know if it changes :D.

Afternoon all...jus popping n to say hi and catch up! Keep up the good work PB...do ou allow yourself treat money for bike stuff? One way I discovered of balancing that feeling f failure when I spend on unucessaries while also keeping a tab on debt repayment...
Being fairly frugal here as future still uncertain so still just paying mins...

Hi ISOM, the bike stuff should have come out of my 'weekly allowance' but I kind of get a red mist descending when I see anything related to bikes and only one item was a 'need' :o:o. Since then I've restricted myself to no spend days or £2 max. Didn't go running with the club on Tuesday evening so transferred the fees for that from my 'running' budget into my main account. There's still a shortfall but my belt tightening efforts will ensure it's not too large by month end.

    I hope!

Morning all. Just a quick update to my earlier post. Managed to have 'no spend' days for the remainder of the week and only touched my shopping allowance yesterday. Embarrassingly, my 'red mist' bike purchases and a mistake in my original budget calculations will make me overdrawn (allowed overdraft facility) by £90 before month end. Bother! Still, I'm glad my decision to write down all spends is bearing fruit, even if it's gone against me. Room for improvement next month.

Happy Sunday everyone. The sun is out here and I'm just off to have some brekky :j

I'd had a chat with a friend about money stuff on Friday night and she couldn't understand why I'm always broke when I'm earning and she's on benefits but seems to be doing a lot better. Once I'd fully explained my situation she finally saw the light, but wondered if I wasn't making things harder for myself by taking such a firm stance.

Not sure 24 years (or so) of constant debt and a determination to clear them in 3 years or less is that bad, but I don't mind wriggling/moaning/wailing because I can see the reduction month by month (despite my lapses).

A few benefits of this debt clearance is cycling as an activity which I'll explore further by taking part in organised bike rides during the warmer weather. A reduction in my Oyster card useage and a return to the 'make do and mend' behaviours of my childhood. Not all doom and gloom then :T
