  • Good evening everyone..............I'm home alone tonight, well, till about 9ish anyway.....everyone's working except me......ha ha!

I've had the day off today, so I've done the shopping, all the washing and cleaned the house from top to bottom (except for the bathroom which I'll do tomorrow!). I still do some paperwork for the Solicitors I used to work for which I should be doing tonight, but I hardly ever get the house to myself, so I'm going to sit here doing nothing......with Torchwood on TV! :)

ISOM I could live quite happily in Cardiff but that probably wouldn't do my bank balance much good!

TEK I'm sorry about your broken window, it seems like as soon as you have some money saved, something always crops up to help you spend it!

Thanks Geranium72......have you won many competitions? I keep trying, but don't seem to be having much luck. Did you have to enter loads before you started winning?

I hope everyone had a good moneysaving day. It'll soon be payday, then we can pay some more of those totals :T:T

    Hi Snowdon

I try and do a few every day I am on the computer - the comps thread is great and a lot of the women's mad (edit - I mean Mag but I thought leaving women's mad sites in there would be good for a giggle!!) sites are good as you can enter them all at once.

I do notice when I out the effort in and do them regularly I win more - nothing major yet (bits of makeup, vouchers, DVDs, - best one was Glastonbury tickets but we couldn't go and couldn't sell them as they are personal - oh and I won a create your own perfume experience - that was nice)

I just try and do about 15 -30 mins a day doing a few
Back to comping! July wins: Frylight August wins: Pixar DVD, Diesel Watch,£75 hamper brioche products September wins bath soak

Thanks to everyone who posts comps and help

  • Hi everyone, thought I'd pop in as I've not been here in a while.

    Commiserations Snowdonlilly.

Whilst finetuning my monthly budget I checked my recent Virgin statement and realised they'd upped the interest so my payments would have to increase by £16.50 per month . Almost had a heart attack so I called them and had a chat. Turns out the 'interest increase' letter, which they are obliged to send in due time hadn't arrived (having mail problems where I live so that didn't surprise me too much :(). Anyway the upshot is they've agreed to freeze the interest while I continue to make the payments and the good thing is their 'minimum payment' is less than my DD setup so I'll be overpaying by £10 a month. :T

I'll have to do some number crunching later to see what this means for my DFD as I already knew it would be about 3 years before the card is cleared, but at the moment I have breathing space so I'm thankful :j

    ............. and breathe...................

Despite our money worries, I hope everyone has a good weekend. I've got friends round this evening so I'm off to get provisions in:)

Some good news: I sold a bike last week and that money helped to clear most of my overdraft and keep me going til payday next Friday. I'm (almost) back on the straight and narrow. Yay!!!

  • Thought I'd pop on and say hi after not being around on here much recently.

Have just been pottering debt wise since Christmas so not much to report. just the minimum DD payment and oustanding loan payments

What else? Oh yes - after receiving the Virgin email about price increases I decided to cancel the TV option saving £18 a month and over £200 a year. And they credited back £20 for this month, and reduced the price for next month.

I've wanted to do this for ages as I hardly ever watch the TV making it not worth the money and I'm pleased I finally took the step.

I've kept up with the 20p and copper jars which are filling up nicely. Time to have think about the CCs as these are the big debts left now to tackle.

Really will make some progress this year instead of thinking it - will do it!
final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333

  • Hi everyone, hope everyone is having a good day.

DH's uncle had a really lovely funeral (in a nice way.....if you know what I mean!). We woke up this morning to about 3" of snow, so DH was out clearing the lane with his tractor before breakfast....or we'd never have got out! I live in a smallish village, but our house is at the top of a hill up a very narrow lane, so when it snows, its not the main road that's the problem, its getting to it....lol! I wonder if more snow is forecast for tomorrow?.......I'm getting tired of it now.......its no fun when you have to drive to work (I'm working tomorrow :( ).

Got all my paperwork done last night, and even listed a few items on ebay. DS2 was supposed to go to an 18th birthday party last night, but had to turn back because of the snow..........so he wasn't a happy bunny! He has another 18th to go to this evening, but my parents live not far from the venue, so he'll be ok for B&B tonight :) My children have a better social life than me........I can't remember the last time I had a girlie night out!

When my friends were living it up, I had young children, but now my boys are all grown up, my friends who had their careers first all have young children............you just can't win.....lol!

Haven't spent anything today, but I have my eye on a lovely little jacket on ebay.......(if the bids don't go too high!!)

  • Hello dearies, its been a while...

Im celebrating tonight with a half price bottle of prosseco (£4.29 - bargain!) as I can honestly say that I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel - its faint and 2 years away, but its maybe time to take a night and celebrate what we've achieved once in a while, even if it is on the cheap!

today Ive been to the dentist for the first time in 3 years - I havent been able to afford it until now and thankfully have had no disasters to force me to go. Taking just a little bit to look after myself after 3 years of cutting corners has really cheered me up in a strange way.

My self esteam has taken a battering through the debt free thing even while Ive been so proud of what Ive achieved - Ive finally started to try and work on rebuilding it, not big spends (and definately no credit!) but Im setting myself a little aside a month for "cause Im worth it" saturday, even if its just a trip to the dentist and spending some boots points on some posh conditioner and a nail varnish to do my own nails.
  • morning all...keep up the good work. Clarab its imp i long haul o identify some cheap treats or you'd go stir crazy and rebel...or at least I do! Am much better at this than I was and tend to get a treaty thing once a month...last month a crochet book (that yet to arrive) and this month a stock pot...I know how to live me!! My debts still on mins due to insecure work situation but my emergency fund is coming on! If work resolved can tell goldfish to bog off in one foul swoop and what a joyous day that will be!
