Welcome to the newbies, been nice to catch up.
Woowoo - you're my age!! You're also not that far from me, I live in Exeter, just a jaunt down the M5 from you!!
I'm starting to think I'm not sure when my DFD will be, but as long as the numbers go down I don't care.
I'm at work with drilling going on in the room next door, so not sure how productive today is going to be!!! Might need lots more tea to get me through...
Hope everyone is feeling motivated and happy :-)

Thanks ISOM, still quite mad about it but I suppose we have to grit our teeth & get on with things. The police came out last Saturday to look at it & they suspect it's the same people as we do, but without proof we can't really accuse them. The kids round here are generally being a pain in the @rse at the moment like knocking on doors & running away, which I know isn't a big deal but with OH on shifts & asleep in the day, can be quite annoying. Had a word with one of the kids this morning saying if we get anymore !!!!!! I will ring the police(Gosh I sound like Victor Meldrew here)!! I think it's with being wound up about the window it has made me feel really p!ssed off!! Sorry about the language!! Anyway things still not going too bad considering. My birthday this week so going out for a bite to eat with OH,DD & my Mum & Dad,Friday DD having a couple of friends round for a sleepover so OH & I are going to make ourselves scarce & nip down the local for a few hours then it's a workmate's 30th birthday do Saturday. We will probably spend abit this week but then we will stay in for a while to recuperate some cash. Decided to up payments a little on CC's as been paying the minimum for months & it feels like we aren't getting anywhere with them!! Thanks for reading folks & back soon!!In_Search_Of_Me wrote: »Evening all...welcome newbies. Hi everyone, its been a bit quiet on the moneysaving front here this week. I did cheer myself up today though.......I realised its payday in a week, so I'm not doing as badly as I thought I was (even after a weekend in Cardiff)!!
Its been a rubbish few days, we lost a much loved uncle on Monday. He was my DH's uncle, but he felt like mine too and he was very good to the boys. So tomorrow, we have to go shopping.......the boys need black trousers. I've also got to try and book a train ticket for DS1 to come home from Cardiff for the funeral.
I also didn't get the job I applied for last week. I think I might be a bit fickle, cos the job I've already got has been much better this week, so I'm not really that upset...........I just don't like being told I can't do something, if someone tells me I can't do something, I want to go straight out and do that very thing!Total debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -

I know just waht you mean. I'm exactly the same!
So very sorry to here about your uncle. These things are never easy, but try to celebrate the good times. In our family, whenever any-one spills a drink or is a bit clumsy these days, we are now able to laugh and ask Grandad what he thinks he's up to. It helps keep him with us and helps us laugh through the tears. I'm sure you've many memories that will help you do the same. Take care

Thanks Niccatw........he wasn't really my uncle, but he felt like he was mine. He'll be missed by a lot of people, especially his mates.................there's about four of them that all sit together in the local pub......just like in "Last of the Summer Wine!!"
I'd better go........my DH wants me to search online for some "inward opening patio doors"..........................I think the excitement might be too much! :rotfl:Total debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -
Hi all
Just checking in. Welcome to all the newbies - this thread is getting so much more action these days! It's great.
Snowdonlily - so sorry for your loss - hope all the plans go ok.
Ald - wow - you have cleared a 1/3 of your debt - that is amazing. I started with more than you as you may have seen from previous posts and it does seem like you are only making little inroads when in reality you are doing an amazing job. Try comparing what your min monthly payments were at the start, with now. Look how much less you are apying in interest.
To motivate me I have recently been looking at what I am going to be able to do when I have cleared this - such as an overpayment of £300 per month on the mortgage means it is cleared in half the time. I plan the great holidays we are going to have - and if all else fails cheer yourself my entering free competitions - when a little (or big!) prize drops through the door it is so cheering - expecially because it costs nothing!
rambling - what you said about the realtionship - that hit a chord with me. I love my other half dearly but I totally agree that there are issues I am shoving to one side until the debt is cleared.
Anyway - onwards and upwards. I feel some ebaying coming on this weekend..........Back to comping! July wins: Frylight August wins: Pixar DVD, Diesel Watch,£75 hamper brioche products September wins bath soak
Thanks to everyone who posts comps and help :beer:0 -
Sorry to hear about your loss snowdonlily, it puts me moaning about a broken window into perspective! Hoping to clear around £400-£500 this month but expecting March,April & May to be tough, got car service & MOT next month, back to paying Council Tax & Water Rates in April & although we won't have the £140 loan to pay anymore got the house insurance to pay in one go in May! Geranium I know what you mean about what you will be able to do when debt is cleared, the £800 a month that we pay towards our debts is frightening, but it just goes to show that even if we save half that once DF, then we will still have a great lifestyle & be able to bank around 5 grand a year! Thanks for reading folks & have a nice day & keep chipping away!!DEBT AT LBM(1/7/07)-£35,052.19 DEBT (31/08/10) Average amount paid off P.M. £67.96 Paid off so far £2582.68(7.3%) Target to pay off in 2010 £2,340.14/£3,600 LH Supporter(165) DFD September 2110:eek:0
