I've decided being a grown up sucks. I might regress and let my mum make all my decisions from now on...

Got to agree with you on that one ramblingtree! Though not so sure about letting mum make my decisions... She's the one who says spend what you've got while you've got it as every-one else wants to take it away...

Ok, so I spent what I didn't technically have... but surely that's just a question of semantics :D

I hope you can sort things out with your OH. I had a bad time with mine (though he is no longer) a few years back; things didn't really go as I'd planned or wanted, so I know it's the last thing you need when you're already dealing with lots of other things. Deep breathes, I hope you come through it all the stronger for it :)

  • Thanks so much niccatw. To be honest, I know a lot of folk on here have relationship problems because of debt, but I think our relationship is actually held together partly by the debt and it allows us to ignore other things that are important that we should be thinking about. I don't know what will happen, but at the moment at least I think I can cope with whatever outcome happens. Although I might be in a huge state of denial about that...

    thanks again.
    xx
  • Rambles sorry your feeling the wear and tear, life is hard and debts frustrate relationships, but im sure everything will sort out it always does :D xxx big debt free hugs xx

  • Hi..............I know I'm a late starter, but can I join your thread too please? I've had a couple of LBMs......the latest at the beginning of this year. I've even started my own diary to keep me motivated (not always successfully!).

I've lurked on this thread and read some inspiring stories, but never thought of myself as a "long hauler". A few things have happened recently that make me want to kick myself (really hard!!)...... I didn't get into this mess overnight, and its dawned on me (better late than never!) that it isn't going to disappear overnight.................I won't be debt free until Sept 2014.........so I guess that makes me a "long hauler" after all!

Any advice is welcome.................even a kick up the backside....and I promise to do the same!

    Hey Snowdonlily

Welcome to the club! I call my previous "light bulb" moments my flickering candle moments - the light went out and the wick burnt way down! This time I'm more determined and more than willing to listen to people tell me things I previously didn't want to hear! That helps!

Don't worry about your diary - I was ranting on mine earlier about my flat-mate eating hula-hoops! It's an entry I guess, if not necessarily an MSE-like entry :D

  • Step away from the eBay! Di you manage to find the tax thing. For me it's 120 tax free a year so 10 pound per month. You need to locate your local tax office ring them they change your taxcode for this year. Then you need to write a letter with your national insurance taxcode place if work. Explain you have worked in the nhs or whatever and say you can claim tax relief for washing of uniforms and professional fees which is however much a year. So 5 years is 600 you may not get that in one big chunk but you might get some and the rest monthly in your wage, xx
