Hi All
Hope cookers and jobs are sorted soon!
Had a great month - and have paid off £2500 this month due to getting some extra from my Mum at Christmas (bless her)
I have one loan which finishes July 2011 and am counting the months down as when that is gone everything is easier and we are nearly £400 a month better off - but am just keeping fingers crossed that I can make enough overtime on top of my salary over the next 18 months to keep us on the straight and narrow
Once I get to July 2011 things are so much more manageable and I won't be frantically adding up to check I can meet everything
On a bright note I have now paid off over £11k since my LBM in April 09 (rambling tree - my figures are very similar to yours!)
Long way to go but I am starting to fantasise about all the things I can do with my salary when we are not paying all this debt and interest...........new car, nice hols and all paid for in cash!!!Back to comping! July wins: Frylight August wins: Pixar DVD, Diesel Watch,£75 hamper brioche products September wins bath soak
Thanks to everyone who posts comps and help :beer:0 -
Geranium - Nice to have a really positive post! I haven't been so successful at paying stuff off, £11k in 10 months is great! I'm hoping to achieve that kind of repayment level this year... Things like loans finishing can be really motivational, sadly our loans are around for a long time yet, but its nice to have those fixed dates where you know things will be better.
Fingers crossed for the job MumTo2Monkeys. Sounds like it would be really good for you and sometimes something that takes more time, if more satisfying, doesn't feel as if it takes more energy.
Sorry about the need for electricians/radiator leaking etc. There is always something. Hope its all fairly cheap!

Hi Mozzyc - welcome. Come and help keep us all sane
ISOM is in charge od dishing out numbers. If you don't here, send a private message and you'll get one.
Hope we can help you through the remainder of you DMP
Thanks! Know what you mean about the "sane" part haha. It's been a hell of a struggle constantly battling with creditors, but getting the hang of it after 5 years.DFD February 2012

I hate phone calls at the best of times mozzy - nevermind with creditors. And they mostly don't worry about common deceny and politeness!
Saying that, I have just come off the phone to Northern Rock and am quite excited (which, in itself is worrying!) that they've agreed to ensure all my overpayment goes toward the unsecured loan and isn't split pro-rata between the two. Woo hoo - as soon as that unsecured loan is gone, I'm free to remortgage (equity permitting, but I think I'm ok on that one). Ok, it's still gonna take a while, but it'll no longer be decades!
Now to get the rest of my debts working in that same direction...Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Ah good times!! Nothing like a bit of good news hey. In Dec i finally won my 5 year long battle with Lloyds to get all my interest and charges stopped on my loan, and they've passed it onto there dca. Now, anything i pay will come off the balance. After 5 years of paying £202 per month, the balance is exactly the same, if not more, than it was 5 years ago-due to high interest and charges being constantly added to the account. This is our largest debt and the one that was killing us, and felt like it could go on for our lifetime. But at least now we know that in 5 years time, it'll be paid off. Lots of wasted money, but lots of relief that we've finally got this result!!!!! Now we can at least start thinking about starting a family soon. We've been putting it off for ages due to this! :TDFD February 2012

thanks mozzyc, its good to know that Lloyds will eventually give in, they are just ignoring us for the moment but I keep reading that they aren't very good at stopping charges and if they don't I will still paying our DMP when I am 103!!!More than Two Years in

Aw mozzy, I can't belive you had to put having kids on hold because of bl**dy corporate stubborness. I real feel for you. It must be such a relief to have it sorted - now you can follow your dreams!
PDD - I hope it works out for you too - and that you might not have to fight as long!
Luckily Lloyds isn't one on my list - a friend has worked in their call centre for a good few years; I think he warned me off them within 6 months of him starting there. I think they could have brain-washed him if he wasn't so skint himselfJan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Thanks for my number In Search of Me!
PDD - All's i can say is don't stop fighting for that interest to be stopped. They are stubborn *********, but you can get there in the end. If not, try lodging a formal complaint with them, or the FO.
Good luck!DFD February 2012

Just checking in quickly. Think I'll head to visit my friend despite the snow - the main roads are all clear!
Eventually clsed my Bank of Scotland account - I've had it since I was 16 - but boy, did they give me some bad advice over the years! And were less than helpful when I had no income coming in - even though I knew that was a temporary measure for so many months. Can't belive it's taken this long for me to get rid of them! (And I'm so relived, as the temptation of a £1000 overdraft can no longer be utilised! Phew! They never let me reduce it as my account had to be in credit for 3 days, so even if I was overdrawn by 10p, I couldn't reduce it. Madness!)Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55
