Hello,
I hope someone can help me answer an question. I took out a loan in Nov 09 for £12,000 over 7 years paying £198 a month & 1 final payment of £340 total £16774. How much is my debt? Is it £11,900 approx the amount outstanding or the £16774.

The outstanding debt will be the 16k figure sorry because although you only borrowed 11 you will in the end pay off 16k. However it depends how you want to look at it if you can work out how much of your loan payment is for intrest you will work out the actual figure you pay off the amount borrowed I imagine lower overall number but slower number reduction. Could I please get a number to be on the long haul supporters board please? I am definitely going to be here for a long time. I am honestly having one of those days today where I could just tear my hair out....

Things I don't understand:
- creditors tell you to contact them, but when you send them a letter, they ignore it and send you letters saying you haven't contacted them (which, of course, is not correct)
- creditors tell you they want to help you pay reduced payments, just tell them your income and expenditure, then return it to you and demand proof and say you aren't cooperating
- creditors tell you to contact CAB or CCCS for advice, after reading your letter to them STATING that you're doing this under the advice of CCCS
- statements from creditors saying "you haven't made any payment on this account" when it CLEARLY shows the reduced payment we made this month on it
- why they want our utility bills?? are they going to tell us we can't use our heater??

Triggles - I think that's just the way of things! God forbid they'd have to veer off their stock letters and give individual replies; that'd cost too much in time and effort

I've stopped tearing my hair out this morning otherwise I'll have none left :rotfl:

Keep trying to upload my SOA but I keep losing it or noticing it doesn't have a section for this or that. It also can't cope with the fact that I don't actually own a car (I lease it through work) but pay diesel. So it doesn't seem to be uploading the full SOA.

Mind you, in order to stop tearing my hair out, I gave up on trying to post my SOA! Happytogetdebtfree has probably noticed I keep putting that one off! Happy to receive a kick in the right direction

nicca tw you make me giggle ... i had an exciting trip to dentist it was free because i had paid for it all last time nice surprise... i am saving all excess before i plow it away just incase something comes up, if its still there by next pay day it will be chucked at an allocated debt xx

welcome new people...cant answer re loan ammts as hopeless with maths but someone will be alog to help I'm sure.

Debt busting slow here as having to pay mins at the moment until my work situation (unsure if I will have a job soon) is sorted out so spending little and saving up as much as I can...frustrating as there is money sitting there but its my emergency fund! If I do still have a job then one cc will be paid off in full. Insecure employment certainly a way of focusing the mind!
