Hi everyone :wave: I've taken another step towards sorting out my poor spending habits, I've opened a basic (no overdraft ) bank account with my bank for spending money only.

So the plan is to leave the main account with all the ins and outs as is and to transfer a set ammount each month to be used for food and petrol etc. I feel like a teenager with her mits full of pocket money and my Mother saying 'spend it wisely, when its gone its gone' lol.

Well we'll see how it goes.

I am also trying this approach Fin, it seams to be working as I know exactly how much money I have left for actual spending!

I know how you feel Happy. It is such a drag. I'm listening to all of my colleagues getting up to lots of fun things and booking holidays and I feel quite sad that I've got into a position where we have to go without for a substantial period of time.

One thing I am feeling happy about today is overpaying my CC. I'm now half-way down my debt on it (since August). So, progress is being made - even though I'm feeling every painful day of it! I would love to book hubby and I a weekend away, or have a meal out with the kids. But the money has already been spent, and on I plod, trying to pay it back.

My long haul stands at about 6 years. Yikes. :eek:

Well at the mere age of 25 im starting to feel the effects.. having got married last year i felt my life plan would be bigger house start a family, however that is just not the case due to the amount of debt its something that is really upsetting me and there is not a damn thing i can do about it apart from carrying on paying and reducing the debt.. my parents are fully aware of the amount of debt me and my oh have but some of ohs family are not and well every next question is you will be having kids soon you need to move house and this that the other and everytime i come away fully drained upset and feel like my life has been cheated for stupidity

hang in there htgdf....whats done is done and you have the advantage of youth! Pleanty of time for building career and having children and better to have learned the lesson now than later!!
