Know exactly where you are coming from Mumto2monkeys!! It does seem to be the same everywhere, there was a story in our local paper where the city council have given it's employees new contracts where some will be better off, some no better or worse off & 27% worse off. They have issued dismissal notices to the ones who do not want to sign the new contracts, as if people aren't bad enough off as it is! At our place it just seems to go from bad to worse, we have agreed to modernisation but RM seem hellbent on giving us unrealistic workloads for the sake of costcutting! Morale is the lowest I have ever known it in over 10 years of working there & I can just about deal with doing my normal hours but feel that I don't want to work any extra hours at least until if & when things improve! Just got to make sure that I do something constructive on my days off so it doesn't feel like a waste of a day IYKWIM!!

  • TEK - I think it's getting incredibly scary how low morale is everywhere. I just hope there is a positive turn around soon. The only good to have come out of this mess is stupid people like me who have overspent on a promise of money, without thought for the consequences, have been made to come down to earth with a bump. I have genuinely learned more about money, credit and the value of everything since August than I have in my entire life.

Speaking of rude awakenings, I'm having a crisis. LBM no.2. I've posted on the MFW board to try and get some help. I've just remembered when I took my mortgage that part of it was an unsecured loan for 11k. This loan will cost 20k in interest . The depths of my financial stupidity have plunged to a new low today.
  • I appear to once again have murdered the thread. Killed it. Dead.

Hope you're all okay out there!

  • Hey!
Mumto2Monkeys - I had that a couple of times after my LBM, suddenly realising another stupid decision I'd made, my debt amount rose about 3 times I think, ooops!

My mum called this morning to tell me she'd found a post office savings account book from when I was a teenager. I have no idea whether there is anything in it, if there is I can't imagine it being much, but she's sending it down and I shall investigate, even a tenner would be a nice surprise!!

Hi Hayley, good to 'meet' you! I honestly don't know how the parents on here cope with all the stress of being in debt plus raising kids. Hats off to you all!

I suppose I should do some work...
    xx
  • Meant to say - TEK - I totally understand the extra work thing. I do two jobs (plus an extra teeny third job) and I've been offered the opportunity to help start something else. And I'm in two minds as it would be interesting, and the extra money would obviously be great, but I feel like I hardly see my OH at the moment. We don't argue, but thats because we're hardly in the same room!
Its a delicate balancing act. Good that you've decided to cut back and keep the relationship on track. Good luck with it all!

I know what you mean mumto2monkeys, our mess comes down to spending stupidly, some of the debt is down to having to have jobs done twice, but most of it is from spending stupidly, we are both alot better at not frittering away cash but there's always room for improvement!
About the mortgage, I hope that someone can give you advice with that!! Good luck & keep chipping away!
