We don't argue, but thats because we're hardly in the same room!
Its a delicate balancing act. Good that you've decided to cut back and keep the relationship on track. Happy Friday long haulers .
How is everyone getting on with the debt?
I told a friend how much we owe the other day and she was really shocked. It made me feel like such an idiot. I suppose I've come to terms with it now, so didn't expect her reaction. She did say that I seemed very proactive about it, and that I obviously had a plan of action to tackle it. But the conversation once again made me feel like a total moron for running it up in the first place. I wish I knew 10 years ago what I know now. I always spent planning to earn money to pay it back. I never realised I was approaching life from back to front!
It feels like I'm going to be living the frugal life for ever. I daren't treat us to anything out of fear that I'll lose control and go on a crazy spree.0 -
Evening everyone. My favourite part of the week has finally arrived :T
I am so looking forward to payday as I can't remember being this skint in years. However, it has forced me to get into the kitchen cupboard even more and be creative with my concoctions. Just as well I live on my own given some of the meals this week
I attempted to transfer some debts onto a 0% card, but was rejected. Can't say I was surprised, to be honest, so I'll just continue plugging away as per usual. I have a longterm plan for my birthday celebration in a few years (my 50th) so that is keeping me on track as I now know what I want to do :j:j
Keep it up everyone :beer:The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -
Mumto2monkeys I know how you feel, whilst our debts are going down, our bank account is so dangerously close to our OD limit. I think the noughties was the decade where common sense went out of the window for the majority of us, with loans,CC's etc. being handed to us on a plate!!It's a good thing that you can talk to friends, only my close family know how much debt we're in, although I can get it off my chest to friends that we are skint & some of them seem to be in the same boat as us! The good thing is many of us are doing our upmost to put things right. We are so skint too poorbabe, in a bit of a catch 22 situation. Been trying to manage without doing overtime, because I have felt a bit rundown, but this has left us short, so feel down about that! I think that I have to accept that if I don't do the overtime then we can't have those little extras in life! Keep chipping away everyone, all the best!!DEBT AT LBM(1/7/07)-£35,052.19 DEBT (31/08/10) Average amount paid off P.M. £67.96 Paid off so far £2582.68(7.3%) Target to pay off in 2010 £2,340.14/£3,600 LH Supporter(165) DFD September 2110:eek:0

Morning!
Thanks TEK
I'm supposed to be doing my housework/cooking so early so I can get on my bike but I'm glued to the computer instead. So bad
As long as we continue to 'chip away' we will always make progress, but we also need to remember to have the odd treat now and again (ok, so they'll be very small ones, but they help to keep us on track).
Right, I'm moving away from the computer................ now!The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -
May I ask, how long term is 'long term'? I've been trying to organise my debts, you know that point where you realise you are using the credit to live on and you are only making mimimun payments back?
Well I now owe approx £14500 on credit cards and £35000 in personal loans. I don't have any ccjs and my credit record is clean but if we keep going the way we are that situation will change .
So I am Finn, married, mother of 5, one disabled. Nice to meet you all and may I stay please?0 -
Hi Finn & welcome! ISOM will be along soon to give you a number! Thanks TEK, hoping to clear my cards in 3 years and then look at the loans, currently they finish in 9 years but we are in a hopeless situation with our mortgage so we need to be squeeky clean asap in order to be able to sort it.
Thanks again0 -

welcome...each of us will differ in our long haul - some a year or so and some decades...regardless peole generally understand the need for support because it can be tough going.
Currently feeling a tad frustrated as pay day next week and will have to pay mins again so excess can go into emergency fund until work situation is sorted...annoying to have enough to pay one card off in full but cant chance it!! Meanwhile costing me interest and its been so long that I dread to think how much it is exactly! Anyway am being good at being frugal and have turned a corner with spending which is good!
