  • Just incurred a late fee and interest for missing a Amex payment. I got the card to get quidco monies. Spent on it then forgot to pay it  thought it was set up for dd. Balance paid off in full and account closed today, What a wally

I agree ISOM having my cc in my purse is a bad idea. Even though I pay off in full (ignorring Amex) the balance grows quickly leaving me short for the next month.

Need to have a major rethink as really unhappy at work.

  • aww hugs for you kp...its sooo annoying when youre really trying and foget something. Did you go back to the dr's in the end? Its so hard but I realise that I've slipped into old ways. At the start of lbm I had the "if I havent got it cant have it" philosphy and did quite well but of late have been of the "chuck it on the cc" mentality. Have now taken it out of my purse and will go back to the if I aint got it ...way of working!

  • Hello everyone, havent posted for some time, but good to see new bods, welcome. Well things are no different for us. Keeping positive, we are have now decided to keep the car as there was no interest in it when it was up for sale and going for a song. we seem to be no further forward in reducing the debt and infact I think that it has increased as we had to borrow the initial nursery fees for DS when OH went back to full-time work and no longer was looking after him. that was about £700. The central heating doesnt work, we have no savings or money to repair it, so dont know what will do come October/November when it gets a lot colder. The car is due a MOT and service at the end of the month, plus whatever it fails the MOT on as it probably will. Plus there is other things around the house that need attention and DS needs new shoes.
Hey ho, no point in becoming down about this as I have resigned myself to the fact that we will never had any money as such. As I've said before, trying to keep a PMA. good luck to everyone x
  • Sorry to hear things are tough at the moment Dubgirl. Hopefully it will settle down soon. Will the money OH brings in from work help at all?

Hi KP, well we thought that we would be better off and OH is earning far more than he has ever done, however whilst on paper we should be ok, in reality it has not worked out like that. Last month was particularly hairy and I dont know how we got through it or bought shopping, especially in the last couple of weeks of the month. We actually took the last week of August off, we did visit my parents, but it was also a money saving exercise as we were not paying for parking and petrol. I have a another week off in October which is partly to save money as I will be staying at home. Its not good.
  • Hiya!
People at work got me individual pressies, I had perfume, chocolates, flowers, my boss made me a bag (she is very good at this) gosh loads! and one team clubbed together to get me a steering wheel cover and seatbelt things for my "new" (well very old) car! I have cards everywhere and really dont want to take them down yet!

The extra money from the tax was an added bonus and will go towards the car tax end of this month. I also have professional fees coming out over the next 3 months and at least this time I remembered!

Have a good wet weekend all,

If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
    I'm not short - I'm condensed awesome! :p

Hi ISOM, well not sure what we can cut. I have been looking through our budget and outgoings and cant see what we could lose. I think we are going to have to generate some more income and also trim back further. I could squeeze the shopping budget and reduce it possibly a tenner a week. In terms of more income, I could do sessional reports at work, but i stopped this due to my rising stress levels which were making me ill, the bosses actually stopped me from doing them as they could see where I was heading, ie long-term sick leave! But I am thinking I am going o have to do it. Also worrying about the fact that neither of us have a pension and in light of current climate, it makes you think. in terms of the heating, OH has a few ideas to try to get it working, if we cant then we will be without until we can afford to pay for it
    thanks x
