Well it's our own stupid fault. Next time either I'm buying it and not getting him involved, or he can buy it and I'm not getting involved. This time neither of us have got what we wanted!
Hey ho, trying to take the annoyance and emotional out if it and treat it as a practical issue. The car won't start - I'll ring the breakdown people in the morning. Yes, they'll probably be patronising and annoying like last time, and yes it means having the new car in the garage and STILL not getting the old one fixed, but these are practical issues, everyone is still alive, it's just details...
Need a stiff gin now though 🙄8 -

That's not good news Cheery!
I hope it is something that the breakdown peeps can deal with easily.
I'm also feeling peed off as our 'houseguest' legged it without telling us this evening. She is over 18, so we couldn't have stopped her anyway, but it would have been nice if she had told us, rather than sneaking out. Even nicer if she hadn't taken a half bottle of vodka and 2 nice glasses with her . . . Hence I'm wide awake and festering. It's not difficult!

Oh no hb! I meant to ask you about your house guests when I saw you mention them the other day. Is it a charity you go through? Very annoying that she sneaked off with your nice glasses and vodka!
I'm wide awake again too so have decamped to the sofa 🙄6 -
Oh Cheery! I hope it’s something simple that can be fixed for little cost. Starter motor, battery or fuel pump. Had it been sitting there a while? Could be the fuel has deteriorated….
In any case, *extremely* frustrating!!
hb, nearly asked about your house guest yesterday and said what a lovely thing it was to do, but… (still lovely on your part!)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

No idea Vix! He said he'd been driving it, but people can say anything... It started fine yesterday, three times (test drive, leaving, then after stopping at the garage), then when I tried to start it later it wouldn't.
Fuel filter light is on, so hopefully it's just that. It had less oomph on the motorway than other car, but then it's a smaller engine, and it's mostly going to be nowhere near a motorway anyway. If it's the fuel filter maybe a new one will mean it goes a bit faster too!
Anyway, I rang the breakdown people, and theoretically they'll be here within the next 9 minutes (they're not in a helicopter 😂 I rang them an hour ago 😂 ) Practicing my 'don't you dare tell me off for buying a rubbish car' face 🤨6 -
Oh and I looked up the charity you mentioned hb - Nightstop? Such good work, so thank you for doing it. What a shame your young person left last night. They must have such difficult lives, maybe sometimes it's hard to trust that people are being nice to them 😕 Link is here for anyone else interested

Have you been doing it for long?6 -
Breakdown geezer is here (although I did have to retrieve him from up the road) - not only is in the same company as last time, it's the same man! I've come in the house so he's not tempted to give me any advice like he did last time 🙄 I only slept for about 4.5 hours last night and I'm not really in the mood... 🙄6

Gosh, what a thrilling MFW diary this is today! 🙄😂
Geezer has gone - apparently it's just the battery. I declined his offer to drive us 12 miles to a shop to get one, partly because then we would have had to sit in the cab with him, and partly because it would have been at least an hour or two of faffing and we have visitors coming at 12.
Instead the AA (which we are not members of, but which do a mobile fitting service) are coming out between 12 and 2. Mr Cheery accidentally booked a fitting while I was looking at the Halfords version. We haven't paid anything, and it says someone will ring to confirm - it wasn't obvious that you were actually booking anything although I've had an email saying I did, so we'll see if they turn up!
What a palaver, but hopefully it'll all be fine by later today (although I must remember the temporary insurance runs out at 5 and not go anywhere til I've rung the proper one in the morning!6
