Cheery's country living adventure

You're dead right, Cheery, taking note of the little things you've achieved can be a big help. You had a list of 4 priorities the other day, how you doing with that? The car is one, I think, but it seems *so* difficult
best of luck with it. Hope the nibbles from the cafe were lurvely.

Ha, well remembered! I had to hunt them down...
1. Finding a new kitchen
2. Buying a new car
3. Removing the bedroom ceiling before the builders arrive
4. Finishing the last couple of kitchen ceiling panels
Car is definitely on there! I've just rung up about another one which we're going to see this evening. Guy seems fine on the phone, it's just over an hour away, I've paid for the RAC check and got temporary insurance, so just making sure we've both got directions, although it's actually a pretty straightforward journey.
Hope this is the one, I'm very bored of looking now!8 -
Fingers crossed that this car proves to be right for your Cheery! It's not difficult!

Well, we have bought it - whether or not it's the right one remains to be seen, time will tell!
The guy was convincing on the phone, but it was quite clear he was telling a few tall tales when we got there... However, it seems he did actually own the car (an improvement on one we bought a few years ago!), it seems to be in reasonable condition for its age, and we did all the paperwork etc while we were there so... whatever. Sick of looking now. Next time I shall be wholesale ignoring Mr Cheery and just going and buying one from a dealer without all this messing about!
Currently feeling like neither of us quite got what we wanted - it's higher mileage than I wanted, and the guy was quite clearly doing a bit of trading on the side which was what Mr Cheery was trying to avoid, but there we are.
Still, four hours later and I can at least cross 'buy a car' off my list! We've got a day insurance policy for Mr Cheery to drive it home, but I can't drive it til Monday. We paused our old policy, and can't reinstate it with a new car online, and they're shut tomorrow. So Monday morning I'll be ringing the insurance, and then ringing the garage to book the other one in. What a palaver!

Yep, and I'm sure we'll both feel better about it after tomorrow! It's a tiny little thing, and I expect it'll mostly be me driving it back and forth to work anyway.
Just need a new kitchen now too 😂8 -
Well, I'm not sure we will feel better tomorrow at all - just tried to take the damn thing for a spin up the drive and it won't start! 😡😡 and of course it was for sale on ebay, but I looked at so feckin many I forgot and just paid cash for the damn thing. So I think we're both mightily annoyed now - decision making by committee means we make a royally bad decision in a royally stupid way and now can do nothing at all about it!
Hey ho, ringing the breakdown people in the morning I guess 😡8 -
Omigod, I was all set to post happy emojis and "one ticked off the list" and all that, and .... drat
so sorry to hear this.
