Cheery's country living adventure

Good luck, Cheery! It's not a good beginning, but maybe her common humanity will surface2023: the year I get to buy a car4

Well she was very lovely, but I did have to go and get her from a village 2 miles away because she doesn't have a satnav and her phone didn't know where she was 🙄 Apparently she'll do us a design, but it won't be ready for another couple of weeks because she's so busy 🙄 I didn't suggest that maybe she'd want to buy a satnav and that might give her a bit of time back - her trip to me should have taken 1.5 hours max including travel, but she actually spent nearly 3 hours faffing about 😂
Hey ho. I'm mentally crossing them off the list and we'll see if they bother to get back to us with anything 🙄 Shane as their kitchens were actually nice!8 -
Something's off there, I think - she goes out on appointments and doesn't have a satnav? They don't sound particularly well sorted, sadly.2023: the year I get to buy a car5

She wasn't filling me with confidence, however lovely she is!
Anyway - another option has appeared. The builder apparently has a couple of people he works with who build kitchens. I'm pretty sure he told me that before, but because we were having a second hand one it didn't sink in. Apparently they do loads for him and often work out cheaper for something better than the bigger places. So I've said they can come and quote too.
Let's hope they don't get lost - never mind project management being full time - I pretty much have a full time job giving people directions to our house 😂😂
The windows people did turn up (unaided by me, but they were helped by a passing postie after driving round in circles 😂 ), and have re-rendered the windows. I'll give it a couple of days to make sure it doesn't crack again and then pay them and at least that'll be another job ticked off.
Getting there!7 -

Cdrtainly is! Although on our second cafe trip of the day I'm not sure I can argue much hardship or overwork... 🙄😂 I might add 'cafe mystery shopper' to the list though 😁7

Mr hb sympathises with your dental problems Cheery, he has had 2 teeth out in the past couple of weeks.
We had more kitchen units and a worktop fitted after we moved to this flat - the units fell off the wall within a weekOur walls aren't the best and the idiot used the wrong fittings. He did come back and re-do them but with very bad grace!
It's not difficult!

We sold our old (solid maple) kitchen and granite worktops to separate people. Actually - we only sold part - my bestie had some of the units and fitted out her utility room with them.
Our old granite came from rock revelations - they used to do a fixed price deal. Ours cost a little more as we had one extra deep piece shipped over from Italy . Was much nicer than our current granite - just a nicer bit - we had the same stuff. We were going to reuse the granite but our new configuration is slightly different and we wanted different bevelling - the alterations were not cheap and there was always the issue of possible damage so we went new. Granite is not as expensive as people often think if you cut out middle menI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £206 -
Thanks greent, I'll investigate 😊
Hb, I remember when your kitchen units fell off the wall 😮 A miracle nobody was hurt! 😮 Fortunately we're not having wall units so I'm hopeful the same won't happen!
Bit of an up and down day here today. Had to recommend a student for academic misconduct which was disappointing and also required a load of tedious paperwork 🙄 But then I marked an exceptional piece of work, and had a reference request for a student who has been offered a really lovely job that they'll be great at 😁 Also Mr Cheery set me up a desk in the garden so I'm going to be working outside for the rest of the summer now 😁7 -
Or perhaps I'll just lock myself in the house instead 😮
Just driving home and saw a car roll, extremely slowly, off the road and onto its roof in a field 😮 The young lad was ok, said he'd fallen asleep - we offered to ring someone or give him a lift home, but he said no, and wandered off up the road in the direction of the village (which was pretty close).
Stopped to tell our neighbouring farmer who was standing outside his house, in case he knew who it was, or whose field it was - his daughter was there because her entire kitchen was filled with a swarm of bees! 😮
Is the heat getting to everyone?! Is there something in the water?!7
