Cheery's country living adventure

No car today sadly! The guy selling it was lovely, but was just a bit too clunky, and slightly veering to one side. It was at the higher end of what we wanted to pay, so we didn't want to be saddled with a garage bill straight away, so... no.
Bit of a nuisance but there we are. Then a piece of Mr Cheery's tooth fell out 🙄 We did have a re-combobulating cafe trip, and a couple of charity shops, but altogether felt a bit unsatisfying for a five hour trip out, although I did buy a new bike pump!
A bit if a reminder of just how touristy it can get on a sunny weekend day though 😮 Mostly we would never go near a market town round here on a sunny weekend... and we have confirmed why! So busy!
Home now, going to have a lolly ice in the garden with the chickens 😁10 -
Well I had a lovely couple of hours of reading in the swing seat, surrounded by chickens 😁😁 Most jolly. Also spent an hour strimming 😮 and cleared away a few bits of wood - trying to make the place look slightly more presentable as my mother is visiting tomorrow for the first time since goodness knows when (before the first lockdown?!)
Anyway, inside I've done a quick tidy, cleaned and hoovered by the back door, and even hoovered my study and the bedroom! Shocking behaviour. And I've made a cake! 😮 I'm not known for my baking skills 😂 but this is a fairly inoffensive sponge, so fingers crossed. I often go wrong at the icing stage so there's still time. Might just dust it with icing sugar rather than trying anything elaborate 😂5 -
Ooh, and I meant to say I caught the mortgage people before they shut, so our next payment is reduced back to the 'normal' registered payment of £919.99. Mixed feelings about doing this, but makes sense in terms of some liquid savings. We normally pay £1500 a month so the bank account will look very healthy next month I suspect! 😂5

A dusting of icing sugar on a sponge is the best IMHO 😋Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!6 -
Cheery I keep looking at that payment of 919.99 & think to myself I'd not manage to stay sane without doing a tilly tidy to 920 🤣🤣🤣 I've developed an allergy to ".99"4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! However, I don't tend to do tilly tidies any more - it was getting all confused with my YNAB records. You'd probably be horrified at the state of my balances!
Just did my withdrawal from premium bonds. Most vexing that if you do an automatic one they take the oldest bonds first. Someone bought me £5 worth when I was a baby and I have somehow become attached to them, even though they are just numbers, they have won literally nothing in 40 years, and I don't even know who bought themwhich means I have to fill in a special form requesting they take out different numbers, which takes 8 working days instead of 3. What a palaver! Need to just get over myself and withdraw the oldest ones
I've iced my cake with a nice lemony icing. It looks ridiculous, but I bet it will taste niceMight post a picture later...

My mother has, inevitably, got lost 🙄 I don't think she's made it here once without getting lost! 😂 Bless her. The motorway junction was closed so she followed the diversion- the right way, as it happened, but then convinced herself it was the wrong way, so turned round...
The journey takes 1 hr 40 - she set off over 2 hours ago and is still 45 mins away...
I should probably do something useful with the extra time but I might just sit here and read my book 😂
Oh, and here's my slightly shabby but hopefully tasty cake 😁
