Cheery's country living adventure

Thank you all! Yes my mum did make it eventually 😂 and the cake is pretty cheerful! And she brought a battenburg cake too 😂 Over abundance of. Ake is no bad thing though as someone else has texted to see if they can visit later, so we should be able to foist the last of the cake on them!6

Cheery, I'm glad that your mum arrived safely eventually. The cake looks fine, I certainly wouldn't have turned down a slice (mind you, I'm not known for turning down cake anyway!).
We went for a pub lunch today and sat in the shade outside. Apparently, the quay was both crowded and very hot yesterday so I'm keeping clear. It's not difficult!

Ha, sorry RT! Making cake is a once in a blue moon affair here too!
Mother made it safely home (eventually), and second round of visitors have gone now too. It's the most glorious evening here 😍 Just the sort of evening you want visitors for. We had a lovely wander round the fields looking at the flowers and the tiny trees. Eaten a lot of cake, and sausage butties for two meals in a row 😂 And we've run out of milk! 😮 I did make a dash to the shop at ten to six, only to find they close at 5 on Sundays. Not much point going all the way into town either as the only 24 hour shop is closed for refurbishment 😂 There's probably an off licence or something but quite frankly it's far too nice an evening for a drive into town so we'll manage til the morning I think...5 -
Hmmmmm - cake 😋

Mum cake indeed 😁😋
Having a productive evening - done some washing up, emailed the builder about possibly moving the sink to the other side of the room (we'd decided against this but might be changing our minds....), and emailed someone about a kitchen they're selling.
I am SO relaxed this evening. Three proper days off and sunshine and visitors and fmI feel like a new woman 😁 I'm sure it won't last once I'm back at work. Working every day this week, but not many full time weeks left now!!8 -
Afternoon chums.
Lots going on today! Well, some financial things anyway 😂
Electricity company emailed. Apparently they're increasing our payments from £42 to £89 a month because they'd expect us to be £14 ahead at this point (to build up a balance for winter) but we're actually £59 in debit, meaning we're £74 behind, so we need to pay an extra £12 a month, but we're using £77 a month, so that means our monthly mmpayments need to be £89.
Or something. Seems high, but then I do have an electric heater in my study all winter, and we've now got the electric fence on for the cows, so... might investigate a switch anyway, but not immediately - will add it to the list.
Nice kitchen lady rang with prices, which were surprisingly reasonable! She's done us four quotes, with and without worktops (Mr Cheery wanted granite, which they don't do), and with and without curved cupboards, which are more expensive. Range is from £3359 to £5284 - I'd been expecting about £6-7k from them, so I'm pleasantly surprised. Still looking for a second hand one though...
Dentist rang earlier, which was quite a shock as Mr Cheery was actually in the dentist at that point and I had visions of them ringing to say something dreadful had happened and he'd been carted off in an ambulance 😮 But actually they've just had a cancellation, so can bring my appointment forward to next week - I've already got an appointment with the hygienist on Wednesday so I'm seeing the dentist straight after to have a tooth out - what a fun morning that's going to be! 🙄
Best get back to work, although actually I'm enjoying an afternoon at home on my own while Mr Cheery is at the dentist. I spend SO little time here on my own and it's so peaceful! 😁 Still work to do though sadly 🙄7 -
