Ha, I never thought to blame the eclipse as well!
Finally made it home. Vet showed us how to get medicine into a chicken with a lamb feeding tube and a giant syringe 🙄 Rusty was NOT impressed, but at least it was over quickly 🙄 Mr Cheery went for a wee in a bush and banged his head on a branch and ended upon the floor - now has a cut and a bruise on his forehead 🙄
I'm thinking I might just get in the bath and leave them all to it 🙄6 -
Oh dear, yesterday sounds like a bit of a drama all round! I hope today is better!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Poor things! Definitely the eclipse. Retiring to bed sounds like a really good idea - hope today's better.2023: the year I get to buy a car4

Today's alright 🙄 Went for our kitchen appointment - I did feel sorry for the poor woman in the end as she did do a good job, but it seems they just don't sell the type of kitchen we want. I wish we'd realised they ONLY do painted kitchens (not plain wood) before we started! Still, a useful process for visualising, and we'll see what the quote comes back like.
Then met a friend for ice cream- in howling wind and spitty rain 🙄 Got to laugh!
Obviously the sun came out on the way to our next appointment - we popped into the showroom of the other people who are coming to measure our kitchen on Tuesday. They did have some nice stuff (we were going to cancel the measuring otherwise) but the saleswoman (who is also doing our measuring) was... lacklustre? Unhelpful? Bored? I just wanted her to tell me things about what I was looking at (is it MDF, solid wood, are these worktops granite? Which brochure can we see the choices in? Can you give us a vague idea of which are the more expensive one? Can we choose any of these doors, or can we only choose some?) But it was like getting blood out of a stone! I've never been so un-sold-at. Quite put me off. We did leave with a brochure, but I'm still none the wiser as to which of the showroom kitchens are actually in it, and I got the distinct impression she'd rather we didn't bother her any more 🙄
Home now. Elderly neighbour popped down as postie had delivered my new credit card to his house (why, when we also had our own post delivered to the right house??) Bought some new jeans which also arrived - I am spending all my time uncomfortable in too-tight ones and it is NOT motivating me to lose weight, it's just making me feel rubbish 🙄 These ones actually fit and have elasticated side panels - not something I'm proud of but at least I won't have to keep hoiking them up 🙄
Anyway. The chickens refused to come out of the run- most unusual and I can only assume they were spooked by the wind. Gave them some treats and shut them back in again. The sun's trying to come out, but yesterday's hormones have turned into today's stomach ache so I'm going to dunk myself in a luxurious daytime bath with a book for an hour or two then see what the world looks like after that 🙄8 -
I don't find tight clothes motivating for losing weight either, just depressing 🙁
I hope you feel more comfortable after your bath.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I agree, tight clothes just make me feel miserable - and I eat more when I am miserable
Cheery, it sounds as if you have been chasing your tail for quite some time and no-one can keep that up for ever. Please give yourself credit for what you have achieved and stop beating yourself up over what you haven't.
Our garden isn't anything more than a patch of grass but it is, at least, directly outside our lounge window. I envy you your view - but we can see the sea from our carpark . . .
It's not difficult!

Ooh, a sea view! 😍 how glorious. Do you make it the beach often?
You're right of course. I did give myself a good talking to this afternoon, wrote down everything that's swirling round in my head as an ongoing to do list, and made an important/urgent matrix.
The only things that actually came out as important and urgent were
1. Finding a new kitchen
2. Buying a new car
3. Removing the bedroom ceiling before the builders arrive
4. Finishing the last couple of kitchen ceiling panels
KITCHEN
We DO need a new kitchen. We've got a design (but no quote) from one place, and another appointment on Tuesday. We have a much better idea of what we want now, and Mr Cheery is on the case investigating second hand options and different places to buy appliances and worktops. We'll have the two quotes as back up but i'm pretty sure we'll find something suitable second hand. We've found somewhere that will dismantle and deliver for a reasonable fee.
CAR
Going to see one tomorrow, and if nothing seems dodgy we'll buy it. There's another one for sale in the same town so if the first falls through we'll try that as a back up. Again, confident we know what we want now.
BEDROOM CEILING
Of course the builder could take down the cladding - but we'd like to reuse it elsewhere. This should be a straightforward if a bit messy job, but once the clean washing is shifted to the bedroom, the room is completely empty.
KITCHEN CEILING
Two panels to put up, and about five to seal round. There will be some to do after the builders have finished too so they could all be done together if necessary.
So there. The normal tidying and whatnot but everything else major can be safely ignored.
Just needed an hour in the greenhouse to sort my life out! 🤣

I'm glad to hear you sounding positive again Cheery
No, I hardly ever go to the beach, certainly not in summer (I burn easily, come up in a rash in the sun, get headaches and nausea - and that's not even mentioning the hordes of visitors). Mind you, I did sit on the seawall and watch a beautiful sunset at 10pm the other day, few other people were around. It's not difficult!

Cheery, I like the prioritising, that's good news. Hope you can get the car sorted today.
And ooh, having the beach close by - yes, I'd be out there once the crowds have gone, wonderful.2023: the year I get to buy a car4
