Cheery's country living adventure

Thanks lovely people 😊
Bit of a grumpy one today, couldn't quite get my act together 🙄 got quite a lot of little things ticked off the list at work, spent the afternoon on the laptop in the garden with the chickens, and even had the place to myself for a couple of hours while Mr Cheery went into town - a VERY rare occurrence!
This evening I was despairing about the state of the house and not knowing where to start, so I went back to my old faithful Flylady podcasts, and did the 'crisis cleaning' one, in which she pretends your mother in law is visiting in an hour and talks you through how to make the house borderline presentable 😂
Now, if my mother in law visits I'll have more things on my mind than cleaning as she's sadly not with us any more 😮 but after 15 mins in each of the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom (it's the living room in the podcast but my bedroom was far worse) the place does actually feel a bit more like a house. Lots to do but not quite so overwhelming any more.
Tired now though! Helped Mr Cheery attach the first side panel for the new chicken run extension so that's starting to come together too 😊

Cheery, I remember you doing Flylady! I'm glad it helped - I get a bit overwhelmed too, even with my small house, and the many fewer responsibilities I have - I've got my day today mapped out, but tomorrow I might try 15 minutes per room - total one hour, I thinkOverwhelm stops me doing anything at all, so it's important to challenge it.

Thanks all 😊
I too am paralysed and overwhelmed, and the thought of tidying the whole house filled me with horror - half of it is a building site and I'd just kind of accepted that everything would be higgledy piggledy for a while but it just got beyond grim 😮
Small, manageable chunks is definitely the way to go, and that podcast (plus her other weekly home blessing hour one) are great for me. She literally sets the timer and says 'now we're spending 15 minutes in the kitchen. For our first 3 minute section we will be moving all the washing up to the sink' 😂 Some days I definitely need that step by step instruction 😂
Did feel nice getting up to a tidy kitchen though, and I've even just cooked myself some lunch because I didn't have to shuffle everything around!
Been sat out in the garden doing some work, which has been nice, although quite warm. I've rigged up a bit of shade over my swing seat now, and in a second will go back out there, swinging away, chickens snoozing in the hay under my chair 🥰 Stopping in just over an hour though - got to wrangle chicken medicine into Rusty, and get them all shut in before we head off for my jab, and I think we'll do cafe and a walk after that rather than dashing home for a pointless hour of work.
Very much enjoying this sunshine! I've got a couple of weeks off in July - hope the weather holds or I'll be proper cross if it's raining while I'm off!7 -

I suspect charity shops are a strong likelihood, don't worry! 😁 Not least because I can't do up my jeans 😮4

Jab done - I got a sticker this time, but it was a lot more stabby than the last one 😮 I think it was the same woman who did it as well!
We did sneak into a couple of charity shops... and I did buy a pair of jeans, although they are 'jeggings' type ones (and green) so not a direct replacement for these embarrassingly small ones. Also bought a shirt, but who knows if that will fit. I'm back on the case with eating properly and exercising now and I hope it makes a difference soon as I just don't recognise my own body in its current state 😮 Normally I can judge quite well what will fit, but I've bought a dress and two shirts recently that I thought would be quite roomy and none of them do up! 😮 Not very MSE (although they did all come from the charity shop...)
Just had a text from the dentist cancelling my appointment on Thursday 🙄 Bit annoying - I'm having a tooth out and that's the second time they've cancelled it. Appointment with the hygienist is next week (this was the one where they refused to see me because I was late). Getting the feeling they don't want me there any more!
I was going to wait til after this round of treatment to find a new local dentist, but I may well shift before then...5 -
Cheery, I'm glad you have had your second jab now and echo the hope that you won't get any side effects. My OH and son have both had 2 AZ jabs with no problems (I had the Pfizer one and, again, got away without any problems).
What a PITA about the dentist! I hope you are able to get it sorted soon. OH is due for another tooth out on Thursday, it will be the third he has lost in 12 months
I well know that feeling of being overwhelmed by how much there is to do. Fortunately, we have a cleaner who comes in once a week and keeps things under control (and it has been much easier to keep on slightly more tidy since we moved here as we tried not to bring too much clutter with us).
Sitting in the shade with the chooks sounds perfect. It's pretty warm down here and I don't tolerate sun, so I'm happy sitting in our lounge and looking out over the -small- communal garden through the windows.
It's not difficult!
