Lovely news on the windows Cheery - they will make such a difference to the look and feel of the house! Great price on them as well, I'd say it is more than fair given that the property owner of this place paid almost that for each of the windows in our place & that was over six years ago!
I see a list as well - hooray! - looks like you are coming back to the nice steady place of balance xxx4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!4 -
That sounds like an excellent deal for the windows CD, but annoying on the kitchen front.I hope the weather stays fair for your building projects, with friends coming to help I'm imagining something like the barnbuilding scene from Witness2014 starting mortgage £165,0002015 second charge £20,000 - Jan 2021 paid off in fullCurrent outstanding balance - £115,8564

More likely to be like Homer Simpson building a dog house 🙄😂
And crikey RT, your windows cost that EACH?? I'd be wanting solid oak frames and stained glass for that! These are bog standard PVC, and one of them doesn't even open 😂
So, a brand new day! Cafe breakfast I think. The wall i was building doesn't look too bad actually (famous last words) so I'm hopeful I'll get it done today! Also want to let the chickens out for a few hours, which means staying out with them to deter any fox activity. They were getting proper grumpy with each other last night (my fault for giving them a bit of bread not long before bedtime...) so I want to give them a decent bit of space.
First though, finding something to wear. All my clothes seem to have shrunk somewhat in the last few months... 🙄 I'm definitely an emotional eater and it's been a tough year so far. Need to get back on the case. I did go for a plod round the park with a pal last night which is a step back in the direction of activity, but I need to do a bit of meal planning and batch cooking too.9 -
Hate it when your clothes gang up on you 😡Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!8 -
It's most vexing, isn't it?! I did find a pair of jeans eventually, but I confess 'spherical' wasn't the look I was aiming for 🙄
Hey ho. Breakfast has been had, prescriptions collected, and a couple of holes hug with my new fence post auger/giant blue corkscrew 😁 Also had a small argument about the chicken run (YAWN). Been sat on the swing seat but it's getting a bit chilly now so I think I'll have to get up and do a bit of wall building. And maybe plant some beans out so the chickens can dig them up again 🙄9 -

Cheery, great to hear that you've got the new windows in *and* five days holibob! Though those days sound pretty full already. Enjoy the cafe breakfasts though
2023: the year I get to buy a car7 -
Cdrtainly enjoyed the one this morning!
Rather annoyingly, the pointing under two of our windows has started cracking already. It probably wouldn't be noticeable, but they're quite big gaps so it looks a bit rubbish. I've emailed them with pictures, hoping they can come out and replace it. I was going to pay the bill today but I might wait til I'm happy with it - that's not unreasonable, is it??
Wall is making good progress, I think I'll get it finished today if I stay out for a bit longer! Not got the beans planted yet mind you, but that shouldn't take long...6 -
Beans are in (well, most of the....). Don't have enough canes but I'll get some over the weekend. I'm leaving the other plants outside overnight and will get them in tomorrow.
Tired now!8 -
New windows!! That's exciting! We had some replaced when we first moved into this house, misted up ones. I remember that feeling of awe when you could finally see outside and it was as if there was no glass thereYou could use the old ones in the garden / greenhouse to protect plants in cold weather?Enjoy your time off :)Do some chilling!! That's an order!5

We've saved the old ones and they'll definitely get used - probably in some kind if elaborate chicken shelter like the last lot did 🙄😂
I did watch 2 episodes of Call the Midwife yesterday- does that count as chilling??
Had a rude awakening this morning. Well, not awakening, as I was already half awake, then started to hear a bit of dripping - odd, because I didn't think it was raining. Also my nightie felt oddly damp 🙄 and I could smell a funny smell...
Dripping woke Mr Cheery too, and it transpired that my hot water bottle had worn through, and was dripping right through the mattress 😮 It had only been happening for a few minutes, there was still plenty of water in it, and of course it was body temperature so I hadn't immediately noticed 😂😂
So that's another palaver to sort out. It's not actually a lot of water, but it LOOK like a lot of water, and obviously will require sheet changing and drying out. Not now though, Mr Cheery turned over and went back to sleep and I just left a towel under the sheet over the soggy bit 😂
Trip to Sheffield today to drop a covid swab at the hospital for Mr Cheery. Not sure what we're combining it with - I'm up for another day in the garden with the chickens...9
