Cheery's country living adventure

Hope you had a nice time with your sun hb! We exchanged Christmas presents with some family in April 😂 And in fact we have other family coming to visit in a couple of weeks who we didn't even buy presents for 😮 Surely there can be some kind of present amnesty at this point?!2

Anyway, not too bad a day. Cafe breakfast (treats budget is rocketing through the roof again...), quick nip into town to get a present for pal.
We did make it home in time for covid study woman, so that'll be another £50 to the kitchen fund at some point!
Spent a happy couple of hours digging in the veg patch with the chickens, although I did get a bit wet at one point (Mr Cheery made them a little shelter, which they all disappeared into as soon as it rained 😂 ).
Finally got round to reconciling YNAB today - turns out I'd not done it since before the end of April 😮 But it actually wasn't a mess, I've used a card for everything, so it was all just bank transactions. All sorted now, and of course we've had my wages and Mr Cheery's pension since I last did it so I was able to budget for June too.
Windows geezers are meant to be coming next week, although I've not had a date yet - hope it's not Monday as we need to move the sink. They're going to need paying, but that's set aside already of course.
Still not heard back from kitchen man about this second hand kitchen... Starting to get a bit ridiculous now. I hope this isn't a convenient excuse to string out fitting our new one - I can just imagine him saying "oh it doesn't matter if we're late coming to you because you haven't got your new kitchen yet anyway" 🙄 But let's not get carried away, it might all work out fine!6 -
You made it in time for the covid study woman and the dosh, yay. And the windows are hopefully on their way ... I've been thinking about how your windows man measured from outside the house, I do like the sound of that. Part of the reason I'm trying to get tidier is to empty out the rooms where I desperately need new windows (they sort of shake, in the gales we've been having 😨😱😨 so that when the workmen need to come in, whenever that is, it's easier to clean afterwards.2023: the year I get to buy a car7

Worth checking how they'll measure KC - I tidied and made space for the first guy, and he measured from outside, so I didn't bother for the second one who came to quote - and he wanted to measure from inside so I had to move everything again! 😂7

Well, I've not got much done this weekend, but I have had some much-needed rest - in fact I fell asleep about 11.30 today, not for long but it was nice to doze on the sofa!
Had a lovely afternoon with friends who got married yesterday, ate far too much though. Been put to check on the chickens, and to put the plants back in the greenhouse, and now I'm going to curl up on the sofa again.
Place is a tip - it's getting me down but I feel like I need rest more than I need the dishes washed right now 🙄 I'll check diary at work tomorrow and see if I can take next Friday off - Mr Cheery has a medical procedure on the Tuesday so there will be some advanced preparation for that, so we won't be making too many plans, which means I might start to get on top of things a little. Maybe.6 -
Recharging is important, @Cheery_Daff , take it easy.

Certainly is - and I fell asleep again on the sofa this evening 🙄 Clearly needed it, but I do feel like I've basically done nothing this weekend!
Not quite nothing. Had breakfast in a cafe yesterday, and a potter round some charity shops, and a couple of hours with the chickens weeding the garden. Cleaned out their house too. Out for breakfast today too, and afternoon with friends. Finally did banking, and wrote a blog post.
Pretty much nothing else, but I've just had no energy at all.
Back on the case tomorrow. Going to get up and do a bit of light exercise, make something proper for lunch etc. Back to a bit of batch cooking too, as I've eaten all the meals I had in the freezer now.
An early night tonight i think, and hopefully I'll be full of beans tomorrow!6 -
But that's plenty for the weekend, after the week you've had with the submission! Light exercise from tomorrow is a nice thing, as long as it's light!2023: the year I get to buy a car6

Karmacat is right, Cheery, that's plenty, - have to admit I looked at your original list and thought "Nah!", especially after working on your funding bid through the previoud weekend.

You're both right of course. I was thinking more of 'it's nothing compared to all the things that need doing' which is a quick road to madness! 🙄
I did get a couple of extra things done last night - the washing up, plus I fixed our only kitchen cupboard - the side had come off, and the shelf collapsed, meaning we couldn't put any washing up away, so it was piling up on the draining board, and the new stuff not getting done.
Cupboard is fixed (well, fixed enough to last until we have a whole new kitchen), so that's sorted out, and I can put some washing up away.
Sun is, of course, shining now I'm back to work.
Sorry. Moaning 🙄 hopefully will have caught up a bit more after next weekend.
Today's focus is going to be on making a little bit of progress- having an effective day at work, and doing SOMETHING house-related - possibly shoving all the baskets back under the bed. Mr Cheery got them out and started sorting through, but with barely any cupboard space upstairs either things rapidly got out of control and now there's nowhere to put clean washing away. Baskets back under bed, washing piles sorted out i think.
Builders are sorting us a bedroom too. Technically this is a three bedroom house - we've never been able to use two of them because of the dodgy floors/building mess. Our new bedroom will consist of those TWO bedrooms knocked into one, and our current bedroom will be a spare. It's going to feel like we've got a whole new house! (I hope...)
Holding onto that thought...
Ooh, I know what else - plants need to come out of the greenhouse again for hardening off, I'll do that after breakfast.11
