Cheery's country living adventure

Not sure I can complain about the dentist really - it was me who was late after all!
Suspect work may overstep at some times of the year, and let me slack off at other times, as now. But I've worked 4 days a week before (in a previous job) and I'm extremely good at setting boundaries - I WILL be having Fridays off regardless 😁8 -
Evening MSE chums 😊
Gosh it's a wild and windy one out there today! 😮 I've had a satisfying (although not very interesting) day going through everything I'd ignored for the last two weeks, apologising where necessary, and making a comprehensive plan for next week. Everything feels more achievable now!
I'm on an all day course tomorrow so it's nice to have got any little urgent things done today, and have a plan for when the bigger stuff will get done next week.
Off to make myself some tea now, been eating a lot of porridge based meals and I need some veg! Mr Cheery wants a walk so that will mean wrapping up, and I'd quite like a bath, although I suspect I won't get one 🙄
Poor old banks etc have been VERY neglected, but I will be doing something about that over the weekend!8 -
Evening chums 😊
Another shockingly wild and soggy one today. But again, another day inside for me, on an online course all day. Work-related, but something I opted to do (and paid for 😂 ) and I really enjoyed it, especially after lunch, when I decided I didn't need to be at my desk and could sit on the sofa instead 😁
There was a woman there who was... actually I realise I have no idea where she was, but when we started at 10am it was 2am where she was 😮 She did say "I hope you don't mind if I don't put my camera on, it's 2am" 😂
Anyway, that finished at 4, and we dashed out for tea and scones straight after 😁
Had a bit of an odd phone call with the woman from the Covid study. She rang this evening, wanting to come tomorrow between 11 and 1. On the ONE day in about 3 weeks when we've had a completely free day. Probably weren't going to go far anyway, but it's a bit of a nuisance time. She was quite insistent though, and Mr Cheery wouldn't budge either, wanting flexible space for his currently non-existent plans 🙄 So I ended up telling we couldn't do tomorrow, which apparently means we miss our monthly slot - and therefore our £50 for the kitchen fund 🙄
Trying not to be too annoyed! Ringing the night before was fine when nobody was going anywhere anyway and this is the first one we've refused. I was very happy to reschedule, but she lives an hour away and doesn't want to make a special trip 🙄 I also said we could possibly meet her in town, but apparently it HAS to be done AT OUR HOUSE (why??)
Hey ho.
Not tackled banks yet, but I have uploaded pictures from my phone and done a big post, which was something else that had been neglected. Back in a minute with an overwhelming list for the weekend...

OK, things that are on my mind that may or may not get done over the weekend...
* banks/YNAB
* start hardening off seedlings
* put last couple of boards on kitchen ceiling
* see if I can jolly along car purchasing 🙄
* rebuild section of wall that will keep cows out of tree field
* sort out another section of wall which is falling down just where we want to build the new chicken enclosure
* make decision and order materials for new chicken enclosure - don't want this to drag on for any longer than it has to
* buy birthday and wedding present for friend who is getting married tomorrow (we're seeing them on Sunday so can't put this off!)
* sort out kitchen cupboard- we moved it slightly, the side has come dislodged, the shelf inside has collapsed, lots of things have fallen down and I can,xt out any washing up away as it's currently our only kitchen cupboard.
Urgh. Need a week off 🙄7 -

Indeed. I moaned at my friend, who is also in the study (and also a researcher) and we came to the conclusion that the study is SO big the people collecting swabs are just given a list of names and inflexible rules, with no discretion. Fair enough (it's one thing being flexible when you're two researchers on a project trying to organised 30 interviews, and quite another when you've got presumably hundreds of researchers ticking boxes and collecting thousands of swabs at fixed intervals...).
So I'm slightly less annoyed about it now (but will still be trying to engineer us being home at 1pm if I can! 😂 )5 -
Urg, yes, things aren't as easy as that now. Is she still going to be coming along to yours, Cheery, because she's in the area anyway? I hope there's a way where you can do what you want and still get the £50.
And your list! It says "last couple of boards on kitchen ceiling". Woo hoo2023: the year I get to buy a car8 -
Are you able to give feedback that less than 48 hours is not adequate? It does seem unreasonable, especially as you are usually at home during the working week.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I suspect I could give feedback, but would it make any difference? I think they might be starting to see the difference between arranging these things during lockdown, when 'will you be in tomorrow?' was a daft question, because there was nowhere else to be, and trying to arrange them now people have plans. Anyway, she's put us on the list for weekday visits which should be more reliable. No idea whether I was on a special weekend list - they haven't all been at weekends!
She won't come here on the off chance, but she's visiting people in the local town between 11 and 1, and said to give her a ring if we're back - we're only 15 mins out of town.
We're planning on nipping our fir breakfast so I'm not sure why we can't be back by 1 anyway to be honest - I've got garden pottering to do! 😂7 -
Hi Cheery, it certainly sounds as if you have plenty to do in your 'spare' time! I hope you are able to work round the Covid study so that you get your payment.
Our son is here for the weekend, which is a real treat as we haven't been able to see him since ChristmasIt's not difficult!
