Cheery's country living adventure

I thinking watching Call the Midwife counts as chilling, my dd would like to watch it with me but is too impatient to wait for me to catch up.
Oh dear to my hot water bottle, do you have a spare you can use tonight?Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Yes, don't worry, I have two spares 😂
Right old palaver here today. Came to drop off Mr Cheery's covid swabs at the hospital. Letter said 'drop off on 29th June' before 5pm (procedure is on 1st June) at hospital A. Leaflet with letter said if it's Saturday (which 29th May is, but 29th June isn't), hospital A closes at 12. Leaflet with swab (which all came in same envelope) says drop off at hospital B before 2pm. Rang to clarify, went to the cafe then hospital B - which had a big notice saying 'open 9-1'! Good job we weren't a few minutes later.
Still, it's done now, and it was a drive through drop off so no need to go in.4 -
Glad to hear you have spare HWBs.

Cheery, I'm glad you have a few days off but it does sound as if you won't be getting much downtime! Hurrah! to new windows but I would think you are well within your rights to withhold payment until the job has been done properly.
Good job that you managed to get Mr C's covid swab dropped off - no thanks to the instructions you were given
I completely understand the issue of 'clothes ganging up on you'. We blame the sea air but I guess you are too far inland for that?
We had a lovely weekend with our son - it looks as if he will be embarking on his first property purchase and taking on a terrifying mortgage (especially considering it will be for a 2 bed flat)! <eek>
It looks as if it is going to be good weather for the rest of the weekend, so I hope you will be able to get through some of the things on your list and get some R+R too.
It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.7 -
Glad you had a nice weekend hb!
Palavers continue. Wall is finally finished, but the mattress isn't going to be dry tonight, and Mr Cheery managed to spray water everywhere when trying to plumb the sink back in 🙄7 -
Some good financial news! Small, but good. Finally stopped dealing with minor household emergencies for long enough to open the post, and it was a letter from the Covid study we're part of asking if we'll continue until next April, and have blood samples taken at the same time.
Don't think you get extra for the blood samples, but our original year was up in September, so this is an extra £350 in total for the kitchen/mortgage pot 😊
Speaking of kitchen fund, feel like I've not put anything in it for ages! Still, Happy Wheel is up to £163 for May and while I probably won't make much more, I'm unlikely to lose enough in 2 days to take me into minus figures again 😂 My sister won £100 from a 20p free spin TWICE this month, I'm most jealous! 😂
Prolific will be up over £10 by the time I switch the work computer on next week, and I'll turn the alerts back on now things have calmed down a bit, so hopefully I'll get another £10 or £20 from that next month.
Don't think there's anything else to add though. Except for Agent Million ringing on Tuesday of course 😂😂
Oh, and it's taken us so long to find a new car that we'll be due a month's refund of the car insurance at some point, which will be roughly £14 or so I think. Would rather have a new car now though! I think we're going to move on to Plan B in our search from next week... (which is biting the bullet and buying from a dealership, which Mr Cheery normally refuses to do having been swindled too many times in the past...). Still, one car will get unworkable as soon as I'm back at work, and will likely be annoying as we get out and about more - and at any rate I just want to tick SOMETHING off the darn list!! 😮😂8 -
Good grief, all that covid stuff is a game of two halves, isn't it! Dropping off the swab sounds an absolute mare, but staying on the project and getting another £350 sounds brilliant.2023: the year I get to buy a car5

Gosh, hasn't it been warm and sunny today! 😍😍
We've had a couple of friends round helping with the chicken run extension. They're hard workers, and have lots of high quality tools, so we made a good start on laying the foundations, and they're going to come back later in the week. I got quite sunburned 😮 and am now quite worn out - I am SO unfit at the minute compared to what I have been in the past 😮
Still, progress has been made, and most importantly mental progress too - half of the pleasure of having them here was it gave us a set date to make a start, and also a reason to keep going when I got a bit tired. Need to see what I can get done before they come back at the end of the week.
What else? I feel likeI'm getting closer to making decisions and ticking things off. Let's have a list 😁
CAR
Mr Cheery is going to give up his search in a few days and I have already identified two potential options to explore next weekend (although next weekend is (a) Mr Cheery's second vaccine and (b) a visit from his sister, so maybe it'll have to wait til the week after... Still, I'm hopeful we'll get what we need.
CHICKEN RUN
I've found somewhere that sells the posts we want, and will deliver. Just need to decide between 3 inch and 4 inch square - there's £100 difference in the total but I'm tempted to go for the larger ones anyway... Will make a decision and order tomorrow.
KITCHEN
Did I say we can't have the second hand one? Quite a nuisance. But I've found somewhere that does second hand kitchens and need to sit down and look on the big screen. I'm also going to ring a local ish place to come out and measure/quote this week too.
Getting there. Lots of other stuff to DO, but those are things that need decisions making...8 -
Had a monthly goals meeting with my sister tonight. She's doing well - got a new job this month and handed in her notice! Exciting times.
Anyway, I'm hoping June will be a month of getting to the end of some of the many things that are ongoing at the minute. We need to be ready for the kitchen geezers in July so that will guide our activities for the month.
KITCHEN PREP
* put last 2 boards on kitchen ceiling
* take down bedroom ceiling (hoping this will be much easier than putting one up!!)
* find and buy new kitchen
OUTSIDE
* plant all plants outside
* repair wall into woodland before cows arrive (imminent - might do this tomorrow)
* buy wood for chicken fence
* finish chicken run extension (although quite a bit of this relies on Mr Cheery)
* put up chicken fence (I can do this bit myself... but it can also wait for July)
OTHER
* Buy new car
* get back on the case with exercise and meal planning
Ready, steady, GO.8 -
