Ha, it's not the world's biggest secret, but we didn't tell anyone in advance (not even parents), and only invited one witness each (not family, and only told witnesses the day before
). Most people we know in person know now, but Mr Cheery didn't want a F@ceb00k announcement so there are still people we've not seen for a while who don't know
There's a big gap between about 2012-2014 I think and I think I got a BIT less verbose after that SC so you might find yourself rocketing along after a while
Slight palaver here. Finished work at 6, put foldy bike in car ready for MOT tomorrow (on the car, not the bike, but I'm planning to cycle to the other places I need to go while I don't have the car). Realised we'd taken the back seats out, and I suspect they're meant to be in for MOT... took the opportunity to clean out (ish) the car. Now can't make a couple of the feckin bolts screw in. Mr Cheery gave some helpful instructions so now he's doing it (or rather not doing it - they're still not in and it's gone dark now).
I'm in favour of leaving it how it is now - most of the bolts are in, and the seats will come straight back out when we get home anyway... but he's got a bee in his bonnet and won't stop til it's done.
I've been busy trying to find keys for various bike locks, and discovered the new wheel on my other bike now has a flat tyre - probably as a result of being shoved in the coal shed, as it's only been on one bike ride and didn't have a flat then.

Ah cheery! There’s always something isn’t there?! I hope you ( Actually mr Cheery) Gets the seat sorted and you manage a stress free day tomorrow. Cars and bikes are a real pain in the behind! Well done on paying off your tab! I hate owing anything too!

Well, big excitement here today! I got all the way to the garage without causing an accident (the car keeps losing power and slowing down so it's a little alarming, but we made it), I have cycled through the city for the first time in goodness knows how long (although I confess I kept having to get off - months of only cycling on traffic-free railway trails has NOT left me equipped for right turns across tram tracks, not that I would have done those anyway!)
And now I'm in an office! Not mine, which is still closed
I've had my temperature checked (by standing in front of a tv screen, where a big green 35.7 appeared above my head like I was in a video game), and am now sat at someone else's desk. Incidentally not the one I booked, which has a large red DO NOT SIT HERE sticker on it. So hopefully nobody has booked the one I'm now sitting at else there'll be trouble!
Most odd. But I'm in a massive room with only one other person, and I've got about 2.5 hours til I leave to meet my friend for lunch
Best get on with it! 8 -
Wow, Cheery, amazing! Great forethought in bringing in the bike, and how fascinating/ horrifying/ reassuring to hear about the precautions for you to use a desk. Different world. Enjoy your lunch!
2023: the year I get to buy a car8 -
I did indeed enjoy lunch thank you! Red onion, kale and courgette bhajis

Sadly the car did not fare as well as my lunch - 'needs too much doing' to send it for MOT today apparently 🙄 but 'hopefully' they'll be able to take it tomorrow. Of course that left me stranded - I could have collected it then taken it back tomorrow, but given that they hadn't fixed the engine either, it seemed a bit daft.
Hey ho. Had a couple of hours of indecision about whether to find somewhere to stay over, but Mr Cheery ended up picking me up and bring me home - glad he did as it's a glorious evening and I can get a bit of scything done
and it means I don't have to rearrange the tree man who's coming tomorrow, so that's good. And if the car's not ready tomorrow, we can just pick it up on Monday or whenever. Yawn.
So possibly not the world's most productive day - I met friend for lunch and ended up staying in her garden til Mr Cheery collected me - some things have been done so some progress I suppose!
Just having a cuppa with the chickens before I put the recycling out, and then I'm going to see if any of the hay has dried enough to bale. Fingers crossed - it was pretty dry when I turned it the other day and the weather's been ok since...12 -
Evening chums

Well the hay hasn't dried enough to bale, and sadly the car is still in the garage - they can't figure out what's wrong with the engine so they're going to run the diagnostic test on Monday and send for MOT then (good job, as that's when it runs out). Not entirely sure what they've been doing with it for the last two days but hey...
In more exciting news, it looks like we're getting our woodland grant
I am SO excited about this - two acres of woodland! That I don't have to plant myself!!
not counting my trees til they're in the ground of course (early December apparently) but still, progress
and the bloke gave me some advice about walling grants etc - doesn't cover the full cost but a good chunk towards it, and will be brilliant for the one by the footpath that I can't fix myself. Lots to think about.
Payday today! More strike money taken (I completely understand why they've spread it over four months of course and I know it's been a lifesaver for many people, but for me with my MSE ways I wish I'd had a box to tick so they could take it all at once... but that's not exactly a problem. Should have had a pay rise too but I need to get my calculator out as I can't work out how much easily with the strike deductions.
Not sure about these dark evenings. Can't see to do DIY (yes, need to sort the lights out) so I've dived into MB again for the evening. Lost a tenner so far...

Oh how exciting about the woodland Cheery!! And that you don’t have to do it yourself!
Not so good about the car though - hope they get it sorted soon.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

What good news about the woodland and the walling Cherry. Two big projects that can be completed in a relatively short space of time.
